In my intro thread I posted some pictures of my new Busa with the GPS, radar detctor, and portable satelite radio. A few of you wanted more detailed pics of the mounting brackets used, so here they are.

Left to right: Garmin 276c GPS, MyFi portable satelite radio, Escort X50 with HARD heads-up LED system. The GPS is mounted using a RAM bracket from cycoactive.com. The satelite radio is mounted on a bracket that fits snugly in the steering stem (radarbusters.com). The RD is also on a bracket from radarbusters.com that fits on the handlebar. This required some grinding as there is not much room on the handlebar.

The GPS and RD are hard wired for power

The satelite player and GPS are wired into an Autocom system which includes helmet-mounted speakers and microphone. It works well as an intercom for 2-up riding, and automatically mutes the music during speech or if the GPS is using audio guidance (infrequent as it is kinda annoying).

All the gauges and indicator lights are clearly visible from riding position with this mounting system.

Hooray- springtime is finally here in Massachusetts

Cutter,

Thanks for the pics! I just bought a small GPS (Garmin eTrex) and am trying to figure out how I want to mount it. I'll check out the site you recommended.

Thanks,

Josh

thats pretty cool set up.. i got one of the stem stands. Just the single model.. it's big enough to put the cell phone, and the Garmin V gps on.

just a little velcro on the backs of each.

Those handle bar deals are pretty nice looking.

maybe a 4 inch plasma tv and a dishnetwork sat on the hump next?

would be neato for interstate hauls.

Some pretty good mounts you got there ...

Thanks for sharing those pictures

Nice looking pics. Might have to look into that radar detector and mount. Just to be on the safe side.

just ordered my mount yesterday for my Garmin IQue 3600...I am worried about hardwiring it...any suggestions on how to hardwire it to my bike? I am not electrically inclined, so please be specific. Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide.

No problem Chad.

I chose to hardwire the RD and GPS directly to the battery, so that they can be on with the key off. Pick up some spade lugs that will fit under the battery terminal bolts and solder the connections to them. BE SURE to place an in line fuse (~2-5A) on the + side near the battery terminal. The hardwire harnesses usually will come with the inline fuse (I got one with my Garmin unit). Heat shrink tubing adds a nice touch for sealing soldered connections.

Remove the L fairing and L dash cover (the black one with the plastic push pin and allen bolts) and route the wires with the harness that goes along the L frame. Use nylon zip ties for a neat installation.

Let me know if you need further help.
