A 28-year-old suspected drunken driver is behind bars for a Sunday night collision on the 215 Freeway that killed a motorcyclist and injured his passenger, officials said.
Daniel Palmer, of Rim Forest, was booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino on suspicion of murder.

Palmer was driving a 1999 Ford pickup truck when he struck James Hayward Julian IV from behind in the southbound 215 lanes just south of Second Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer Hope Maxson.

Julian, a 26-year-old San Bernardino man, and his female passenger were both thrown from the 1991 Suzuki motorcycle after the motorcycle hit a freeway barrier and landed in the center divider.

The passenger sustained a fractured elbow and multiple abrasions to the right side of her body.

Palmer continued on the freeway until he hit a tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
