Motor Noise

I took my motorcycle to the shop, everyone is telling me that they can fix it and how much but won't tell me what it is! So I decided to diagnose it myself. I measured my shim clearance and I found that all my shims where inspect except number 1 intake. It measure at .406 can someone tell me what this mean and how to repair it?

The space between the shim bucket and intake cam on number 1 plug, second bucket from left on intake side on number 1 plug

I can't. I never question if it could be the cam! What would damage a cam, look for what?
