anyone watch the moto gp last nite? to me was boring. looks like rossie is back on top again and win most of the races this year, and i gave up on hayden, he just does not have it. he start 5th or 6th every week picks up couple of position on start and then keeps going back. john hopkins should have stayed with suzuki because kawasaki just does not have it.  and ........oh how about edwards? well... as always in the middle of pack.
maybe that is why it is boring to me because none of the american riders are doing great this year.

I dont know if I'd call it boring, but for the most part I agree with ya.

Love to see Hayden be competitive, Hopkins? I dont think he has ever been a factor in Moto GP.

Watched it as well...only good for the first 5 laps, until Rossi took the lead.

All the races seemed to go this way, whether it was Spies in AMA or Checa in World Superbike (best racing IMO). The race winners were already determined half-way through the races or earlier.

Would like to see what Spies could do in GP.

yep, lopsided events are dull.... I know there is a lot of noise about the NASCAR purchase but they do "even" up the field and provide more head to head racing.. I have watched a few races but when the lead never changes, I go to sleep..

Hayden and Hopkins are not competitive because they still ride the old backing-in style, the new 800's are more like 250, high corner speed. I think you guys are unfair to Edwards he is doing well

As for Rossi, what can you say

it does get old with the same folks winning every week but when youre the best rider on the track what are you supposed to do? slow down to make it interesting.

imo the biggest thing they could do to make races competitive in moto and wsbk(AMA will never be competitive) is get rid of all of the eletronics. they have launch control to help launch the bike, traction control to not spin the rear too much and anti lock to not slide the tyre too much. where the h*** does the rider come in anymore? i know these guys are still the best riders but they have taken to much rider out and put to much technology in. F1 finally figured it out and got rid of the tc and now thier races are good again.

i know all the technology trickles down into the street bikes but to be honest with you i dont want it. i couldnt imagine not being able to spin the rear on my busa. if i wanted a completely "safe" thing to get around on i'll take the car. all the eletronics in the world arent going to keep some idiot in a car from pulling out in front of ya. my .02

+1
yab i agree... i wish they get rid of electronics and see what the riders can do.

I don't think it was a completely boring race. Pedrosa kept Rossi honest most of the race. And by the time Stoner got around Pedro, it was too late to reel Rossi back in.

Rossi is at a different level than everyone else right now. He finally found the right setup/machine combination that works for him.

Edwards has always been a middle of the pack rider. But you gotta give him props for going to the satellite Tech 3 Yamaha and putting her on the podium a couple times. He still has the potential to win a race one of these days.

Hopper is having difficulty with the Kawi now, but I wouldn't count him out next year. He won't be championship threat for sometime, but he may be able to podium next year. It all depends on the development between now and next season.

Hayden-been treated unfairly ever since he went to Repsol/HRC. He was 2nd fiddle to Rossi (which was understandable at the time), now he's 2nd fiddle to Pedro. Unfortunately, HRC has been developing the bike to better fit Pedro than Hayden. I don't see Hayden with Repsol after this season.

I thought the first race from Utah (2:00pm) was really good.. You are right though the others were kinda same old.

Rossi found the set-up for Mugello during QP on saturday when they changed the fork cartridge fluid. He's what ,5 or 6 time winner at Mugello where 90,000 people showed up for the race ? He would have won that race on Melandri's Ducati

Agree on Hayden being gone next year . Sounds like he is to ride the new pnuematic valve engine next weekend . It made the whole lap at Mugello without breaking .

Hopkins sounds like the Suzuki manager when he talks and i wonder if those headphones are even plugged into anything .

Other than the same o same o with only the top Michelin riders getting the best tires the seasons just heating up and Lorenzo's DNF probably gave Stoner some hope .

I wonder if Melandri wish he had stayed on a Honda even if not getting the good parts ?

MotoGP has had 4 different winners in 6 races. 3 different manufacturers win races and 4 races to Bridgestone with 2 races to Michelin.

There are 4 riders VERY much in the hunt for the championship.

I really don't get what all the noise is about with all the boring races. The MotoGP races are 45 minutes long. If a rider is .1 seconds off the winners pace on a 23 lap race, he'll be 2.3 seconds back at the end. .1 second!!

I think AMA and MotoGP are as exciting as ever. You never know how's it going to pan out. Matt Mlandin just finished 4th behind a Kawi and a Honda!! WSBK is very exciting this year! The Suzuk has got top speed, the yamaha fast corner entry, and the Duc and Honda seem to be good all a round.

I like watching the fastest guys on the fastest bikes on the fastest tracks. Next year's 600 Superbikes will suck royal a$$. Who wants to go watch nissan maximas run around the track....

Watching Rossi win another race in Mugello was awesome. NOBODY has ever beat him there, ever! How is that boring...

Also, if you're singling out motogp as the boring race. The AMA and WSBK races were exactly the same as the motgp race. Just slower riders on slower bikes.

here is my take on it..

I do not know the riders or their history, I have watched 4 or 5 of the races and still do not know... (commentary lacking in the booth perhaps?)

I still have no idea of the structure of classes, rider history or anything about the bikes... Sure if you "follow the races" riders, or the series, you probably have some inbred knowledge of all this.. I do not have time to dedicate to learn all the above and so rely on the commentators to get me up to speed... They do a chitty job of it..

Take any series, if you have no idea of who/what/where, you are out... NASCAR does a great job of bringing people up to speed on cars, crew, drivers and the politics going on at any given time.. I watch 1 or 2 NASCar races and I know a lot more about what is going on than if I watch 5 bike races.. (I find stock car racing to be a bit boring but at least I find out who is who)

Sure bikes can not rub fenders or bump doors so some of the physical aspect is out, but hey teach us who is who and how they got there, what about the bikes? I have not the foggiest idea about the equipment or what is going on in the pits..
.
Just a personal observation ...

Personally, I like watching Moto GP. Best bikes and the best riders in the world. WSB has always had great racing with a lot of different champions over the years. And... AMA is definately better now that its going to be in the future.

I completely agree that the commentators suck a$$.

Especially speed!! But the 2 worst things about speed's coverage, the commercial breaks and the POOR camera action. After watching a WSBK or a MotoGP race, then an AMA race. Who the heck is manning the AMA cameras. Get those guys some better training. Get the camera guys and the commentators working together.

Bikes do rub bodywork and get physical from time to time! Last years AMA Superbike race at Laguna Seca Finale is an example: Spies passes Mladin late into the Corkscrew and the 2 barely rub bodywork. Mladin has to ride the chicane on the way down while Spies flies into the lead.

or....

2007 CA Speedway Race 1. Spies passes Mladin through T2. Mladin passes Spies back on T3 and 4 esses, They rub bodywork.

2007 @ Barbar: Mladin and Spies in heated battle, Lapped rider unsure where the two are coming from and trying to hold his line but at the last second tries to run a tight line. Mladin was already committed and dives to the inside of lapped rider and the outside of the Yosh Suzuki's bodywork bashes into the lapped riders right knee puck. A true pucker moment.

Or howa bout 2 years ago in MotoGP at Sachsenring, Germany. Pedrosa dives inside Hayden, Hayden closes the door on the youngling. Pedrosa's front tire rubs on Hayden's right shoulder and arm creating a nice black donut on Hayden's leathers
wowold.gif
. NASCAR rubb'in can't even compare to that!!
