Model Year Differences?

Hi! Just looking at getting a new Hayabusa and there are '09, '10, and '11's to choose from with better deals on the older model years. Other than colour differences are there any other mechanical or performance differences to take into consideration (e.g. different brakes, etc.)? Thanks in advance for the input.

Nope, no differences other than color and decals. Welcome to the oRg. :welcome:

Make sure recalls are performed and buy what you want to look at.

Nope, all the same.:welcome:
Unless you are outside the US, you won't be seeing the 2010.

Believe Hawaii had 2010's. Not that it makes much difference.

Gen 2's are all same minus a couple minor recall issues. Just like stated, different color schemes.

j.j. what to look for if you do grab 08-11 is,
1. ignition wire recall
2. rectifier recall
3. clutch bolts (time service bulletin). < i had to do this to mine recently and was straight forward. some units have clutch chatter upon start up and quiet down when lever is pulled in. apparently, suzi forgot to apply (RED)thread locker on the 10mm bolts. :welcome:

3. Ignition Wire Recall (08 only?): Safety Recall Campaign #2A05 http://www.bikeland.org/misc/busa/k8_gsx1300r_recall.pdf
Model Year: 2008
Models affected: GSX-1300RK8
NHTSA Campaign Number: 08V249000
Potential Units Affected: 9109
Problem: American Suzuki is recalling 9,109 model year 2008 GSX1300R motorcycles. Improper routing of the ignition switch wiring harness can cause a bent portion of the wiring harness to flex rather than slide when the handlebar is moved from right to left or left to right. Repeated side-to-side movement of the handlebar, and flexing of the bent portion wiring harness, can eventually cause the ignition switch lead wires to become cut or broken. This can result in intermittent or complete loss of electrical power, which can result in loss of lighting and/or stalling of the engine, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action: Dealers will inspect the ignition switch lead wire routing. If the lead wire harness is incorrectly routed, dealers will replace the lower portion ignition switch (which contains the ignition switch lead wires) and make sure that the wiring harness is properly routed. The recall began on June 10, 2008. Owners may contact American Suzuki at 1-800-255-2550.

there is a phrase suzuki likes to use to explain the changes between model years such as 08-09-10-11-12...

one difference not mentioned, starting in 2009 Hayabusa's came with a flux capacitor. located just behind the headlight assembly.
