Modding the new Pashnit Busa

Although you have to order a separate base plate for whatever top case you have. I have the Givi Blade and had to figure out which base plate goes with this top case.

Next project is a new phone mount. The iPhone 6s is a big phone and would not fit on my RAM mount unless you take the protective case off. Then that base plate finally broke and searching through threads on this forum to see what phone mounts everyone has, ordered this:

So more web searching and realized I could re-buy the RAM base plate I have used last six years. My wife got me an iPhone 8 for Christmas which is a little smaller.

This photo is of the Adaptiv Technology Adaptivmount 22-27 (part no D-01-1). I have been using this same mount for ten years and on five (yes five) different motorcycles. It’s aluminum and fits the Hayabusa perfectly using a smaller diameter ball then the RAM ball system. More expensive then most at $85 likely but I have 100,000 miles of travel on the mount and the only thing I am replacing is the plastic RAM base. So worth it to spend a bit more.

Ram mount makes a larger mount that will hold the bigger phone's. I have a galaxy s8 plus about thre same size as the larger iPhone's and it's held well at over 150.

and the Adaptiv Technologies mount i've been using last 10 years is found here

The USB outlet in the above pic is from 3BR Powersports and the owner was kind enough to send me their latest model. I was thinking of adding a second USB port in the tail but we'll get to that later. ;)

More on the Givi Rear Rack install. only reason I got this because this is the rack my buddy Matt had on his Hayabusa & after many years of saddlebags, the top case grows on you.

It's super easy when you get to the hotel. Just pop off and carry in.

A lot of you run hard saddlebags, but all my tours are three days - quick out an back, after nearly 20 years of running tours, travel so light, it's a pair of jeans and spare t-shirts is all I'm carrying.

I got this from SoloMoto and the rack was $129. I already had the top case.

Also quickly discovered the universal base plate that came with the Givi Blade top case was not compatible with the Givi rack arm spacing.

I hadn't previously noticed the Renntec rear rack was bending again. You can see the welds from where the rack tore off (both sides) and I had it fixed. My local town welder did a great job, but I'm running too much weight in my top case for this rack so can't fault the rack.

Also quickly discovered I wasn't able to install the arm brackets as it's designed for a stock bike, and the former owner wasn't using the rear spacers .

I didn't have #15 & a check of my huge pile of spare bolts was a nope.

Yah. Slight problem.

Swapping out the front tire at about 4500 miles. Not bad for a front. Rear Avon still has plenty of tread left after 4500 miles . These sport touring tires Avon makes are pretty amazing.

always keep lots of wheel weights on hand from local repair shop so I can change and balance them myself.

at least three tire irons, motion pro rim savers are helpful. And I’m getting lazy and just using dollar store windex for my lubricant. Not quite as good as dish soap but windex works fine.
