Midpipe material ? Steel or stainless

I was wonder what material the mid pipe was made of ?
Is it stainless or just steel . I may want to add a different flange to the end so I was wondering for welding purposes !

Gen2 are stainless.
I don't remember what the gen1's are, been too long since I worked on one.
Just put a magnet on it, it won't stick to stainless.

Since we really don't know what kind of stainless it is (304, 321, etc.) use a 309 wire or rod. Expensive stuff but when you have a crap shoot on the base material it is the go to filler material. Also you can use it to weld mild steel to stainless without the weld cracking away from the parent metal.
