Manual Cam Chain Tensioner?

I just drained the oil and was doing some other mainteneance and I noticed the PO installed a manual cam chain tensioner. I'd just a soon remove it and install the oem tensioner. The bike is bone stock included the PAIR even the tail/rear fender so I can't imagine why this was done. Anyone shed some light on the 2001 tensioners. Were they defective ?

Since I didn't install it can someone tell me how to check and/or adjust so I at least know the tensioner is adjusted properly?

really a crap shoot for someone that does not know how to use them for sure... do more damage than good if mis-adjusted..

I would get a OEM adjuster and sell the manual adjuster

Does the OEM adjuster have an oil line running to it? Looks like the Ayers schematic has one. This manual adjust is just that..manual no lines or anything attached?

The po removed the oil feed line so I would have to go to great expense to refit the hydraulic tensioner. I'll just have to live with the manual adjuster and learn how to adjust and how often. Wardie???
