MAYS LANDING, N.J. - A New Jersey man has pleaded guilty to stealing 91 lobster tails from an Atlantic City casino's kitchen by cramming them into his jacket and backpack. He's been sentenced to four years in prison.

Anthony Jones took the frozen lobsters from Bally's Atlantic City in February and tried to sneak them out in his jacket and backpack. A security guard monitoring a surveillance camera noticed his clothes were unusually bulky, and stopped him.

He pleaded guilty to burglary on Friday in a deal with prosecutors, who dropped additional charges.

The lobsters, worth $1,275, were destroyed

???

On the brighter side of things, at least he's got free room and board for four years.

ANyone else think 4 years is excessive for $1,275 of food? When drug dealers and child molesters get off easier in most cases??

yah stolen from the casino Sounds fishy to me. if it was a red lobster or somethign i doubt he would have gotten that kind of time. Casinos have there hands in government.

personally, i think that is about right since they won't let us cut theives' hands off over here...i just think the drug dealers should get longer sentences and child molesters should be put to death

Those were probably his prior offenses.

I know if you screw around on the Indian Casino's in CT, they take certain crimes Federal on you.

So,,,,,, the man will be in prison which the tax payers foot the bill and the lobsters got killed. It sounds like no one wins in this situation.

It's possible they were taking the man off our streets for a reason. 4yr's seems excessive, but there is usually more to the story. Like he might of been a return offender etc..

Lobsters were already dead. They were just frozen tails. I wouldn't want one "Live" lobster sharing clothing with me let alone 91. However this is a good example of how the story gets twisted into the "How can they give yadda yadda 4yrs and let yadda yadda...." Information gets lost or misunderstood as time goes on.

Food was destroyed cause of the fact it was mishandled and therefore cannot be resold. Would you buy it knowing some scum handled it? Let alone eat it if it was served to you at a table which you paying top $$ for? "Yes,I'll have the lobster tail that was kept fresh in the thief's armpit!"

I would imagine this thief had prior offences! What you've done in the past makes a big difference when it comes to sentences.

I know an individual who got 15 years for having $25 worth of crack in his pocket during a traffic stop. Spent 8 years before being paroled!

man was out poaching lobsters one night in maine. the fish and game commisioner brought his boat along side the man and asked him why he had lobsters in his boat. the man immediatly replied "those are my pets" the officer scoffed at that response and the man continued to explain. " every night i bring my pets out here for some excersise and a game. i bring them out and i throw them as far as i can and they swim back to me so they are like playing fetch but on a reverse concept." again the officer scoffed at the mans statements. the man said "here ill prove it to you i throw them into the water and they swim back to me!!" so the man throws his pets as far as he can and looks eagerly over the side of the boat for his pets to return. after about 5 mins the officer looks at the man and says "ok where are your pet lobsters??" man replied "what lobsters":cheerleader:

Bet you he thinks twice about stealing lobsters next time.

To be honest in my opinion a thief is about as low as a child molester.

I agree, My brother was shot and the guy turned him self in after did it. He even told the police that he had shot my brother in the head and killed. They gave him 6months with work release! Altho he didnt kill my brother he missed and shot him in the shoulder. He still admitted to attempted murder!
