Some complete stranger came up to me and very politely asked in a thick British (Cockney) I think, accent:
"Pardon me mate but might I bum a fag?"
Now I'm guessing for the average person this would have seemed somewhat unsettling.
For me,no.Me MUM was British so I instantly clued into the phrase having heard it before from the parental unit "Pass the fags will ya pet."
But I kept a straight face and responded with: "It's a free country, you can do whatever you want!"
Made some folks who over heard the encounter have a big laugh.
I am hugely interested in hearing some of the mantras or "sayings" from your part of the world.
Hit me,entertain Rubb.
