Losing the turbo battle...

MB, you dont understand! Get rid of that heat sheild. It will fail after time. Dont take the chance. Finish riding this summer and tear it down this winter and put the one piece in. I put a 90 degree in the clutch cover to return the oil. 1/8 npt. Leave enough slack in the line so you can remove the cover for clutch changes. Terry was returning into the case but it was putting pressure on the cases. Hence your smoke.
 
Hmmm, I wonder if there's any value in putting the oil return above the clutch basket to drip lubricate the clutch and thus make it less grabby as Busa clutches can run too dry. (they run above the oil.)

Ensure the oil you use has good anti froth propeties!

My return was in the lock up plate above the clutch...on a GS..I also used a 90 degree fiting with large lines...had the same problem when returning anywhere else..
