Little help please

My 2nd gear surges.....goes into but slips. Was told it was the gear shifter springs, but taking the out there was no problem, going to replace them anyway.
Is this classic 2nd gear is out? As I said it goes into 2nd just surges till hitting 3rd.

Sounds like second gear slip. When my started it was like it was kicking out of gear when hammering on it.

Short answer is there is no short answer....transmission out and rebuilt......

Just fixed this on my bike, was slipping in second pretty badly. Plan for $600 maximum or $110 minimum for just transmission parts/service.

I needed a full up gear undercut, shift fork, and I bought a new shift drum for good insurance. $610
And you'll need oil, coolant, and the case sealing goo.

I used MT Performance, I'm pretty happy with their work and pricing.
