Last dance with Maryjane

It also creates emotional and psychological dependancies. All too many people cannot or will not be willing or able to function without it.

Sorry...but I disagree. When I was younger I smoked alot almost everyday. As I matured and started a family and career I stopped. I do not have a long lasting dependancy on it. People who smoke cigarettes have more of a dependancy than anything else.

"Reefer Madness" propaganda.

Not to get off subject but people on cell phones and sleepers cause more problems on the road than marijuana use alone.

Holland in the late 1980s made all DRUGS LEGAL. There was a huge spike in ODs and other related incedences for 3 or 4 months then ALL OF A SUDDEN drug use fell to way below pre legal times. Hear that AMERICA. Want to clean up America- Legalize ALL drugs. No matter what the laws we are always going to have the 1%ers. Wanna smoke= move to Cali. Prop 215 is the answer. Develope a back ache and pay 200$ and you get a permit to grow(10 plants) and ingest or smoke MJ. Become a provider and make 200plus an oz.Oh ya -aaaaaaaaaand you need to regester with the cops. Fully legal.

(Devious @ Oct. 19 2006,07:56) I have never used it and doubt that I ever will.
But I have known lots of people over the years who have, and I learned a few things...
One being, I would rather be around someone smoking dope than someone drinking.
I've never, ever seen someone smoking get pissed or start talking shyt, and just being an a$$ in general...
As a rule, they are very relaxed and calm...
On the other hand, I've noticed that the ones who were drinking were prone to cause trouble.
And the more they drank, the more beligerant they would become...
And as for operating a vehicle...
A person who drinks and drives is far more inclined to either cause or somehow be involved in an accident...
Yet someone who has smoked even a large amount of pot, is more inclined to be pulled over for driving to slow...
So, in my humble, and possible, totally misinformed opinion, I think it would be better to make marijuana legal and either outlaw alcohol, or at least, make it a controlled substance...

HOLY CRAP! Devious... I dunno what to say, I am in 100% agreement here.

So that's like three things... MIL-Busa-Opinion on Pot VS Alcohol.

I have my own history that includes a little of just about ANYTHING you can think of that's not a scary drug. IE NO Needle Drugs, crack, Heroine, etc.

I've never understood the laws against quite a few of the more entertaining drugs out there.

I have been around plenty of folks smoking pot and drinking. Over the years I have made a few observations.

1. Stoned people do not get into fights or start nearly as much trouble as drunks.

2. Pot smokers (99%) of the ones I've dealt with have steady jobs, are good parents, are responsible folks with decent values. They don't smoke a bowl and scream at the wife, they beg the wife to get them a bowl of Ice cream and a Twinkie!

3. While you should NEVER operate ANY vehicle Drunk or High. If I had to choose because there was a gun to my head, I'm rolling with the stoned person every time.

4. Marijuana is NOT physically addictive, and while regular smokers may FEEL the urge to smoke some bud, they do not NEED too. No DTs, etc.

Lastly, I am not big on conspiracy theories. I know enough about alot of stuff to make it hard to sleep at night sometimes. BUT the one thing I am pretty certain of is the the BS "WAR ON DRUGS" is just that. Bullsh!t! The WAR ON DRUGS is nothing more than a way to increase Local and Federal Budgets. A way to keep our WAR DEPENDANT economy healthy during times of peace. Without this "WAR ON DRUGS" there is no way voters would vote for higher taxes or allow the billions to be spent on Police, Coast Guard, and Military without the threat of EVIL DRUG LORDS... It's this Federally Generated, Media Sponsored, Campaign of FEAR that keeps folks quiet, behind locked doors, watching neighbors.

The EVIL DRUGS..... Sound Familiar? THE AXIS OF EVIL... THE RED SCARE... Hell for 50 years or so our economy was dependant on the cold war for survival, once that went away? There had to be an enemy to take it's place, something to keep the population quiet, shopping, and fearful. Key to this has been "The War on Drugs".

Bunch of hooey.

I also agree with the above MODERATION posts...
EVERYTHING in Moderation...

EVERYTHING. True words to live by.

Lots of Booz in the house, I allmost never drink.

Buddies with LOTS of fun stuff, I never join em'.

Driving over 100mph Once in awhile.

Riding over 150 once in awhile.

Calling in on Friday so you can make your Tee Time? Once in awhile.

Ordering a HUGE MEAL AND DESERT sometimes.

Staying up late having fun in bed with the wife, Yup sometimes.

Video Games, Porn, INTERNET USAGE, Movies, shopping, eating, RELIGION!!!! ALL IN MODERATION...

Do TOO MUCH of any of the above, and your going to be in trouble, loose your job, your health, end up in jail, Unable to think clearly, unable to act properly... Moderation....

(TIMMYDUCK @ Oct. 19 2006,11:26) How about this old saying:
" Moderation in all good things "
That is my creed.
Be it Weed, Booze, Triple Digit Busa speed's, or many other vices, there is a long list of things that will come around and bite off your behind before you know it.
The government with it's ultimate wisdom has decided to regulate which ones that we can and can not ,control on our own.
So, Pop a cold one, or fire up your spliff, cause another day has gone by and the people that tell you what is what ,still took there 30 %.
Hey,
I wrote the moderation thing first.
I want credit.

Just to touch up on the whole 'getting addicted to marijuana talk' Not possible. I stated early in the post that I have been a smoker for over 12 yrs. And I'm not talking about the guy who joins in on the doobie circle at partys, iv'e smoked nearly everday for those years (with occasional brakes for jobs ect.) and now I am in Iraq! No pot over here I can promise you. So here I am, I go from smoking pot every day, to being completly sober (no booze over here either) for 4-5 months at a time. Now I'm not going to sit here and lie to you and tell you that when I'm sitting out here bored as heck, as I am sometimes, that I don't sit back and think "man it sure would be nice to be suckin down a cold beer and puffin away on a nice fat doobie right now" but I'm sure as he!! not breaking out in cold sweats about it.

Now I will agree that some people who may have exsiting mental heath issues (depression ect) may use it to 'soothe' if you will, there problems. But the fact is these people had problems to begin with, and they chose pot over one of those 'man made cure drugs' on the tv that cause more side effects than the problem at hand. These people might feel that they have a dependancy on marijuana. The simple fact is they would have felt the same dependancies on those other drugs with the terrible side effects. They should have the choice, thats all I'm saying. I'm not trying to tell you which is better, only that if someone chooses to smoke marijuana, they should not be stamped a criminal and risk jail. I don't think thats asking too much.

I ,unfortunately, am the one HR sends people to for their drug test. Over my 15yrs in the medical field I have watched the limit of positive for THC drop from 100ug/dL, to 50, and now down to 10. That is casual contact! Someone can go home on Friday, do coke, barbs, benzos, etc., and the body clears all metabolites in 3-5 days. Smoke a little weed and you're positive for 4-6 months! Pisses me off because I, too, like participate in a little 'puff puff' every once in awhile to unwind after a hard day...in the privacy of my own home...on my own time.
We see these old news reels demonizing pot, saying that people kill their family and commit suicide...total BS. For the lawmakers it's all about the almighty $$$. You've got these politicians, older than dirt, up there in DC making laws for the rest of us to live by, and they don't have a clue what they are talking about.
How much work is lost by people coming in hung over from drinking, standing around the coffee pot waiting for their caffiene fix, or slipping out 15x a day for a smoke break. The person that smoked last night maayybe has a little tummy ache from eating too much Count Chocula while waiting for his pizza to be delivered.
