(O steps up on his soapbox)...

One of the things I really liked about this board is that we don't use foul language. I've been to other boards and stopped because it gets to be too much. We're slipping, bad, compared to how it used to be. We don't need to be using *&%$#, or purposely misspelling words to avoid using the real words. Don't use it at all. I'd like to see us get back to keeping it clean.
This is my 2c, if I stepped on any toes, and I may later...too...bad, see I didn't say too &^*%$ bad not so hard and it saves time.
Thank you.

This is the real world. If I HAVE TOO censor the way I talk, I'm out!

I respect others, so I tone it down when in their presence. But If something comes out, it just comes out.

I don't cuss in front of alot of women, especially Moms!
So I understand.

I am also an adult and don't expect to be told how to talk.

See, out of respect, I made it thru this whole thing without 1 bad word.

(My turn next on the soap box)

I agree with "O". Some of the "kiddy" forums and chat rooms are full of foul language, inuendoes and four letter "codes".

Sleeper, there is alot of difference between someone who curses as they express themselves verbally and a web based forum. However, this is the written form of communication and we have more time to think about what we say and how we express ourselves.

The Hayabusa is an adult "toy" enjoyed by responsible people. Likewise, this forum should reflect the class and beauty of this motorycle and the respect we all should have for it's power and capabilities.

Not to say that our comments and opinions shouldn't be comical and colorful in nature, however, this can be done without vulgarity!

And most of all, the overall lookcomplexion of it's membership won't be that of the juvenile majority out there showing off on their "rice burners" and "crotch rockets". I for one don't associate myself with these "kids".

This is a great site! The most informative on the web! I (my opinion only) don't want to feel like I'm communicating with these kids or, for that matter, your typical Harley Davidson fanatics!

Now, I leave myself open to get "boned" by all who disagree with me.....

I do not mind watching my tounge...I mean..fingers...while typing away on a board not owned by me. But I do find it kind of strange that this S*^$ is a problem. I mean it's not a word, most of the time you can insert your own words, make it out to be what you want.

If we are talking about possible connotations, lets talk about the big "O" for a minute, the "big orgasm", at least thats how I have heard the term used before. So you are promising women a good orgasm?

Those sexual overtones are OK while th*^ stuff is bad? I dunno?

I tell you what though, I go too SuzukiHaybusa.org, or especially LABusa's and I tell ya, I cannot deal with the amount of bad manners, language, and tons of porn that are on those sites (LAbusa anyway). (Now don't go checking you pervs) I mean if I want to see nekid chicks frolicing...(which I do), I have an astounding variety of web-sites to choose from, I do not want to see that when I am trying to learn more about bikes...it's distracting, not to mention bad form if I am at work. So yeah I do appreciate having a place where I can go, and learn and hang out without worrying about content being inapropriate.

Do we need to pay attention to our manners and work on being courteous? Well, yeah probably, I just do not see &*%^ as being a problem...Not trying to be an ass, it just happens naturally sometimes.

No disrespect Biggie.

Hayabusa Man, Love that avatar it's pretty cool...adds such heavy foreboding overtones to your posts...

Revlis,

Have I been politely been made fun of?

(Note to myself........must make inquiry into and find correlation of the expression, "heavy foreboding overtones," and the content of my posts)

O and all,

I can go either way. I only use these censored words to express my extreme feelings. I agree that the use of foul language is not necessary. Perhaps we can all learn a lesson from Big O. Not only do we not need to use it, but aren't we also bigger men for speaking our mind without getting dirty?

Not to beleaguer the point, but RSD may not agree with this post.

I too dig HBM's (Huge BM?) avatar... He needs to stay a newbie or rookie so it looks like the mouse is balancing on a rolling ball at the same time!

Ahhh censorship. What a wonderful thing. I agree that while typing, there is probably no need to use language that may be deemed...vulgar, however, this should always be a voluntary choice. With respect to whomever you are speaking with (or typing to).
I dont do a lot of posting on this board, but, I do read most of it everyday. I have never felt like there was too much vulgarity, profanity, or any large amounts of sexually explicit material in these postings.
Granted, we all sometimes get close to wherever that line may be, but these forums are by far the most educational and entertaining motorcycle related site on the web.
If you do not like what is being written, you have the right not to read it.

I think what "O" was eluding to was not necessarily that the language is bad overall. I just think what he is saying is that compared to how it used to be, it's getting worse. And his realization of this is being brought to light so that it doesn't get abusive like some of the other sites out there.

Of course I don't want to speak for Big O, this is just what I got out of his post.

Made fun of, NO. Seriously...I love that freakin Mouse, cracks me up. I was just utilizing a bit of asarcasm to point out that regardless of how much vitriol you put in a post, it is going to be hard to take it too seriously with that lil dude doing his thang...

Now lets not hijack, Big_O's post.

There is nothing wrong with expressing your dialog with an occasional F'n or a slipped in Azz once in a while. Let’s not get out of hand in either direction. When you have a paragraph like !@#$% ^ &* ()% ^&*( )#$%^
!@#$ %^ &(. Nobody knows what you are saying anyway.

When you have an occasional word (which I do often) there is nothing wrong with it. Sometimes it makes a point. Like the F'n truck almost killed me. In society we use swear much too often, but that is our society. You can slip in to using too much very quickly.

Monitor yourselves. If someone gets out of hand they will be asked to keep it down.

Guys use your judgment you all know when too much is enough.

Almost sounds as though Big O was politely referring to Rubberside. I could be wrong, but it seemed that every post he made was coded in profanity. I use coded profanity every once in a while as a means to express the nature of my true feelings, but there have been a few cases where every other word was a cuss word (that's how we say down here in Da Dirty Dirty...) with some people. If I am one that is causing any displeasure to anyone (other than simply posting), please let me know. I try to respect each and every person on this site and I realize that I'm not above anyone else; or below anyone for that matter.

Hey bacharles,

It's a good thing that your avitar is in "mute" mode! I can only imagine the expletives he's throwin' out!

I just wanted to add something that I remember a teacher in jr. high told us and I've always felt that it was a true statement. " Foul language only shows a lack of vocabulary". One more thing....Yes, we are adults, and by censuring ourselves, it does show a respect for others and that one has grown wiser. I know its only words....but foul language is unacceptable in civilized society. Just my $1.49..........

Man you should keep it general and generic. Calling a particular guy out shouldn't be necessary at this point, and will only put him on the defensive.

I for one will agree that I have been using more of those symbols lately. I will now make an effort to refrain unless I really need to make a point. Hopefully, everyone will take it upon themselves to keep the board the way it has always been. This is not censorship. This is a group of pepole who have been granted the privilage of participating on SOMEONE ELSE'S board, and following the general guidelines set forrth by the owner of the board.

It is just that simple!

I smell a challenge ... From now on no more cussin ... Lets see how many different idiocies I can come up with to avoid the use of swearing ... Let the games begin!!!

"I don't FREAKING give a CRAP! GOSH, GOLLY DARN IT!"

Funny, but I think subliminally I enjoy the more mature tone here than other boards also. I stopped into [edited out competing bike's board] and found all the swearing kinda juvenile.... then remember how mature we were over here and respected it. I can see the occasional "I was rounding a corner at 190 and said to myself, '%@!$@!$^% I'm gonna die' " for narrative purpose.... and I swore silently to myself when I first twisted my Busa, so I understand. But swearing isn't really needed in conversation, ever. It's like putting butter scotch topping ON TOP of fudge topping.

I gotta learn to swear before I can make up replacements

You guys are all pretty cool with your perspectives, open mindedness and understanding.

Now if we could get some of the ladies which left back on here, that would be GREAT!

I don't think so!! I hold 2 degrees one in Business and one in Geo-Science I have an above average IQ ( I do admit I am a terrible speller, anyone that has been here for some time knows that) with a good amount of common sense. I am on the 5th Floor (there are only 6) of Corporate Bose, and did not get here by accident. I watch my language, my vocabulary, the terms I use and even the expressions that I present, that is Corporate America. I watch how people feel about things and how they interpret them. The point is I watch all day, I am not going to watch on a site that I enjoy and blow off steam once in a while. Just keep things in perspective let’s not go off in to a ridiculous mode. Every one on this site knows what good, bad perverted or just plain unintelligent (stupid, dimwitted, obtuse) is. Let’s just leave it at that.
