key chip

You will buy an empty/blank key and then have it coded to your bikes ignition security code. Every bike has a different engine immobiliser code.

I have been told US bikes do not have an engine immobiliser but euro bikes do.
A dealer will charge a bomb but a good locksmith will not and will cut your blank key to work for your bike.

uk bikes do I think its a 4d6b transponder chip i took the non working one out the key i have some id46 chips i use on hondas but i cant find detail to compare.key is fine code has gone bummer

yeh dealer want about £130 to supply uncut key to program then i have to get it cut.i will buy a $2 chip then get it cloned locally dealer denied chip can be swapped i hate dealers crooks

South east asia also has them.
They give you a 4 digit code specific to your bike with the keys. If you lose the key, the dealer would code a blank key to the specific engine immobilizer code.
If you dont have the code, you have to replace the entire ignition coding which is a very expensive exercise. Upward of 1500 USD.
Independent vendors do have softwares that can code your blank key to the ignition code without using the suzuki oem software. It can be a hit or a miss depending upon the 3rd parry software they use.

Germany hast chipped keys too. You get a 4 digit number with the key - that's how you can make a copy if lost or broken!

electronic immobilizer at gen2

hi at all,

MAIN question is
if you are really 100% sure that your problem is actually the electronic immobilizer!

So - first of all - start the self diagnosis and check what kind of error this shows to you.
If the immobilizer is really your prob, the little display (in the speedo) shows the error "C42".

For error "C42"
I called my brother on the phone and he told me three options / ways.
(As far as I know, he is one of only 3 private mechanics here in Germany who really know this "kind of work" and perhaps you luckily can find an equal private.)

Way 1. - You can finally flash the electronic immobilizer out of the Gen2 ECU via PC & interface.
After that, the ECU never "asks" again for special, coded keys and the ignition lock function of the Gen2 corresponds to that of the Gen1 from now on.
Costs if privately made around 100 € plus shipping.

Way 2. - If you still have a correctly working key with which you can still start Gen2, but all other keys - old & original or new - refuse to serve,
you have to! go to a Suzuki specialist workshop to have all keys re-coded there,
by switching the ECU "electronically" into a very special "key flash" mode.
This mode then causes the control unit to assign a completely NEW CODE to the originally still working key AND to all other keys that you also want to have re-encoded, which means that all keys have a new code that the ECU knows and allows ,
That costs - estimated - quite easily and gladly 150 - 250 € plus the cost of the new keys
plus the transport costs to bring the Busa to the workshop, because it has to go there.
(Or you can find a "private" mechanic that knows how to re-code the keys - but the Busa must also go there!)

Way 3. - The really BITTER! path, if there is no working key at all,
and the electronic immobilizer should remain active,
is then the mega expensive replacement of ECU, ignition lock (seat & tank cap) and keys for brand new - estimated - around 1,500 - 2,000 € plus the assembly costs - the safest in the specialist workshop.

Way 3b. - To possible "bargain hunters":
Even used, the ECU, ignition lock and key are still around 800 € (don't forget the tank and seat - locks)!
(Have a look to the "Bay" incl. the uncertainty whether the "new" bought parts really work!)

All here remarked "costs" are german costs
- no clue what amount you´ll find elsewhere.

good luck.

it is the key that has stopped working the spare key works fine.I have a new chip coming which i will put in the old key and have it cloned.I am getting a reflash in the summer so I will get the immobilizer switched of.if it really anoys me I will hard wire the immobiliser out but that involves stripping the ignition.thank you for the reply safe riding

i think that this will be impossible!

remember allways and never ignore !

the ECU allways asks electronically for that immobilizer and if there is now answer it stops all start tryings.

the "new teaching" of (2, 3 or more) keys shouldn´t cost more than around 200-250 $ and
it needs only the workshop´s PC and the lift of both seats - what do you think you have to pay at the end of YOUR way?!

tell ya - if you wanna go your way - i guarantee - you will need at the end
1st new main harness plus
2nd new ecu & ign. lock
a fat amount of money of around usd 3,000 (or more) will become necessary.

my BIG and FINAL hint - spend the "little" money to the suzuki workshop to teach all keys new
as long as your gen2 still start with the spare key.

or, if your ecu isn´t flashed yet, how ever, send it to me&my brother in germany - he can flash the immob. out - for sure
or you look for a colleague at your homeland, who can do the same flashing.

any other ideas are a kind of "deathifying" your gen2 to a simple puppet - nice polished outside but never again with a "beating heart" !
