I got a few hours to go riding today, and I was faced with a hard choice- which bike to ride. Life is hard. I just got the Busa in October, so I've been pretty much riding it. However, I don't want the 1K to sit for too long.
As soon as I hiked my feet onto the pegs of the 1k, I felt like i was trying to mount a cockroach and was running out of room. However once I got onto the highway, the front wheel ascended into the sky with ease, and made me remember why I love this bike. After running into the triple digits, and approaching a corner, the 1k would fall into long sweeping corners with grace. It also accelerates away from stoplights, like nothing else.
I then went home and got out the ole Hay bus. Instantly I felt like i was a riding deep inside the cockpit of this machine. I still had plenty of room for my legs, and my hands fell naturally upon the bar ends. I felt like I was spralled out on a hammock. I was poised to cruise comfortably, or destroy the highways, either one would come with relative ease.. The bike felt heavy and cumbersome, yet each pound inspired me to bury the rpm needle into the ground. Riding this bike, everyone waves and smiles, and I do too.
The thing I like most about each bike, I hate about each bike- like the Hayabusa's heft and the 1k's scapel-like precision. Whenever I'm on the 1k, I think about being on the Hayabusa, unless I'm running around with the front wheel in the air. However, when I'm on the Hayabusa I don't miss the 1k as much...
I never thought I'd say this, but if I had to only have one bike, I think it'd be the Hayabusa.
To anyone wanting to know which one to get, I'd say the decision is a tough one. It's like chosing between a voluptuous woman with soft, swooping curves, large breasts, a gloriously "healthy" backend (Kim Kardashian) and a cardio bunny who's got six pack abs, B cups, and a hardened backside (Umm...Can't think of one)...You really can't lose.
Thank God I don't have to chose.
