Ok here it is! I can't ever seem to find that third hand to put the stopper inbetween the locknut and the fork cap so...i took 2 metal hooks and attached them to a 4 ft piece of 1/4 inch thick vinyl covered cable. I then set the fork on top of a scissor jack. I ran the cable under the jack and attached the hooks to the spacer above the spring. These hooks were bent so they would flare the cable as not to touch the fork. i place the whole thing against my work bench leg and carefully raised the jack...worked like a charm. hooks pulled down on the spacer...exposed locknut, got the fork cap off and voila..a one man fork job!

Its the small things that keep me happy and the homicidal thoughts at bay!!
