Joined the ranks of the Criminal Speeders...

MrGxr, do you ever ride Devils Highway, AZ 191? We run that and then ride down NM 180 to I-10. I-10 I've never had issue on, usually keep just ahead of the packs of traffic, 90 +/-. Do watch out for carcass' on the road though, last trip to Alpine (On Devils Hw) a buddy ran thru the squashed middle of a dead dog, luckily the middle was already flat!

After reading your first post I thought it was harsh for 85 in a 65.

But after I read your second post, 107 in a 65 when you were up to 157 at times, I think you're getting a decent deal.  It could be much much worse!!

Lawyers may cost more than the court fees and fine, but the cost of the Attorney will be NOTHING compared to what your insurance company is going to do you...[/Quote]

You got that right! If all I was looking at was a pissant $588 fine, I 'd set aside $10K a year and use the US roads as my own personal autobahn. I could see it now...12:00 noon here in Indiana----call my relatives in Florida and tell them I'll be in town by dinner time!

That Busa would be the next best thing to owning a Learjet!

As it is, more than 4 points on my license and I lose a 14 year career. The company I work for has a hardass insurance company which will drop anyone from a company vehicle if they have more than 2 minor tickets or one major ticket.
Then there's the insurance company that allows me to insure my classic vehicles for next to nothing and I believe they only allow 4 points too.

Of course State Farm will then put me on high risk for the regular cage and Busa plus high risk on all the other vehicles that just got dumped by the previous company.
No job + insane high risk insurance rates would pretty much ruin the rest of this decade for me.

CharlesBusa, yeah, kind of left out that minor important part....however, no poop, another rider that same day, got the same deal and he (and the other 4 riders) stated they were rolling 87 +/- a mph, the cops gave them no leeway at all. I can say, I was popped for speeding in my friends cage, first time I drove a turbo and stick in a long long time, 65 in 45 that was transitioning to 55....wrote me for 65 in a 45. That one I didnt have my license on me, and it was was 20 over, but he only wrote me for civil infraction of speed, not criminal, so I can take the states 4hr driver safety class and no ticket will be on my record, no fines and no points. So, Arizona has plenty of roads for how I like to ride, I just need to remember to use the right ones....Highway 90 from I-10 to Sierra Vista sucks (both tickets on 90!).

In Scottsdale they have camera's on the freeway that take a picture and mail you a ticket when you go over 78 in a 65.  The people's republic of Arizona is alive and well.

I got a ticket one time in zona where I gave the officer a cash payment - much to my surprise it never showed up on my DMV report.

The "traffic cam's" lasted about two months in Hawaii, then a class action lawsuit was filed stating infringement of personal privacy or something...anyway the cam vans went away. Those things are crappy.

I think I figured it out for you!! They were patrolling for illegal aliens, opps, I mean "Undocumented workers" and thought you guys were a gang of lettuce pickers late for work. Seems to me that the southwestern states, especially Arizona, would have more pressing matters on their hands than a few bikes at "speed" But I guess if you can catch a guy that can afford to ride a Busa and shake him down for $600 bucks it's better than catching an illegal that doesn't have a dime to his name or a pot to pee in. But I suppose this is why we have the problems that we do here in America. Sorry, I just fell off my soap box!! God bless John McCain, best friend to the Democommies!!!!

Its funny you mention that. There is such a huge influx of illegals in this area its crazy. The actually walk over the mountain backside of post, and then thru post into the city. BP could care less about the non-illegals stuff.

MY 77 IN A 55 HERE IN PA WAS 4 POINTS AND 125DOLLAR FINE...you are gettting ripped off by that state i was doing 22 over...no criminal speeding..no cuffs...no stress...wow...get a lawyer

Makes you wonder... Why the hell do we drive bikes like the Busa on roads where speed limits are ridiculous and the fight between speeding vs. not getting caught doing it is endless!!!

I mean... What's the point of having 160 RWHP+ and being almost 200MPH capable if you have to cruise smoothly in third gear at 55MPH to be considered "reasonable"?

Just a thought...

PA seems really mild with people caught speeding! On my way to the dragon a few weeks ago, i was caught for an 88 in a 65 and all it cost me was $140, cash to the court clerk...

A similar fine here in Quebec would have cost me nearly $400 and 5 points to my license (out of 15)!

Ouch! Hate to see anyone get burnt like that...

"Damn it I need to grow up/get more self control..."

Some might say a way to grow up is to get rid of your fast bike. But hey, who in the hell wants to do that?!
SHOCKED.gif
Self control is key (but tough!).

1 more reason to always have great rubber and a full tank off gas.
Thank god in Vt, when you ride by there isn't anyone for them to radio anyhow.

Remind me never to move to Arizona.

Here in GA if you're not going 20 over the limit you're getting run over. A few years ago I got stopped while I was going 117 in a 55. I got tickets for speeding and reckless driving. The lawyer got the reckless thrown out but the speeding stuck. $550 for the ticket and $600 for the lawyer and 6 points.
I hope it all works out for you.

(Revlis @ Oct. 01 2006,22:15) Money Making Scheme's at their best...  Pretty Sad.  Hell I'd a lot rather just pay upfront.
Pretty messed up but true.
Sad to see municipalities performing predatory tactics just to pay it's employee's salaries.
It is a vicious cycle that makes it so that you hire more LEOs to go on patrol then they have to find work so they start to set-up road prosecution stings.
And a few good guys on bikes get the shaft because of this crap.
Flame me if you all want to but I am with Rev that we are targeted because we can be an easy paycheck using the right tactics.
It is the cops that work in tandem to write citations.
It happens everywhere on the interstates near cities. Why do you have municipal police on the Interstate when they should be patrolling city streets. Leave the Highways to CHP or DPS or Troopers and stop getting paid off us.
And yes it should be called a donation instead of a citation and forget the whole prosecution and record infringement not to mention the implications to a Servicemember's career since we all know that everyone takes a crap on enlisted guys that get caught going so fast "Oh my you were doing 85

!!! What were you thinking, Do you wanna die son??? I think you need counseling and we are gonna have to revoke your motorcycle parking pass for the installation...
Phuk that, been there, and done that...

I live in St.Louis I got one for 120 in a 70. It also included passing to many cars in the right lane, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle (running) and following too closely. I asked the officer how fast was the car in front of me going and which lane was I supposed to pass in. I didnt get arrested and a lawyer took care of it all just had to go to traffic school. Here they seem to let you off just pay huge fines which just shows its all about money.

Ola,

but i am a police officer in louisiana and against my better judgement im gonna post this reply. In Shreveport particularly, we have a lot of serious accidents involving motorcycles more specifically the big liter bikes like ours. Because of this we are hard on any violation that could be construed as reckless, excessive or irresponsible. Im not gonna tell you that when my bike reaches the 1000 mile mark im not gonna go out on some parish road and turn her loose nor am i endorsing traveling over the speed limit. I would suggest that if you are going to engage in a ....BLATANT violation of the motor vehicle code you do it out of the city.

go easy on me it was just my .02

I'm with Rcktman on this one.

Sucks you got busted, but that's the price you pay.

And I too live in AZ. I don't understand the socialist/communist replies. This is a republican state.
