ditto, 'cept only 35 yrs in the saddle. Just plain 'ol luck (of the 'good' variety) & listening to your "gut instinct" (that little voice in your head that tells you for no apparent reason what-so-ever to back off from "wArP sPeEd"....and just after you do, you get around the next bend & there's a hair-dryer pointed directly at you) can save your azz so, so many times !!!

Conversely, occasionally when both 'luck' & 'instinct' have seemingly totally deserted me (been stopped no less than 3 times at near double posted speed limit doing balance-point wheelies )....i've applied the "genuine contrition" factor (ie:- "extremely soz officer :duh:, i've been a real goose....") and even had all my details taken down (license, rego #, etc.) and then been let off with a warning each & every single time !!!

Hmmmm....exactly how long does good luck hang around ?!?!:thumbsup::laugh:

I'd better not push my luck by bragging:whistle:Got a ticket on my Vincent
for passing on the right shoulder back in '67.

FTP Catch me if u can!!!

File Transfer Protocol?!?!

i dont get it:whistle:

i speed all the damn time, not gonna lie. its nothing crazy but 10-15 over generally on teh highways. never been pulled over till yesterday. pulled over 2 times on the same trip home. no tickets 40 in a 30 and 60 in a 25. no speed zone to a 45 to a 25 in about 150 meters. cop understood and told me to slow down more so he dont have to "scrape my ass off the sidewalk"

Been thinking about this since is was posted and here's my 'out loud' commentary. I quess I don't obsess about who, what, when, and where but I am aware of the responsibility of my actions in the exercise of priviledge. From what the brothers have been posting from other states about fines and jail time I feel my personal awareness of what I do is somewhat dimmed by the fact driving laws in Kansas haven't caught up with other states.

I was doing some grilling a couple of days ago and couldn't help but notice all the 'rrrreeeennnn, rrreeeeennnnn, rreeeennnn' of people going through the gears around town. And then I noticed the pitch of one very familiar gsxr-k that kind of suprised me. After he pulled in the driveway, I asked my son if he'd been out towards 'such-and-such' a place and he of course commented about him and a buddy of his 'going through the gears' through a couple of blocks.

Hmmm....

Yeah, we parked it on the respect your rights and honor the priviledge topic for awhile, not with an 'attitude' but more with the gratitude that we share common interests. And that deserves the exchange of our 'spiritual spit', so to speak, of provoking each other to concern towards others and the reasons why we should. (I think I've read that somewhere...)

Yeah, we'll probably twist on it, fry some Goodyear, waste some Conoco....probably always will. Just always aware of the where, when, how, and who in the process...

...and hope we don't get so carried away that it warrants a visit with the consequences and losing the priviledge of experiencing the freedom of riding like the wind...

(insert deep, satisfying sigh) ....yeah! :beerchug:

The first year i had my busa i never really gave much though to speeding and I was doing some "MAJOR SPEEDING". I had more luck than the powerball winner also. I had 1 stop over 140mph and a 2AM stop at 160mph...both times i never even saw them they just creeped up on my miles down the road and pulled me over. Now that i have a turbo bike i'm constantly looking around for police and i'm more alert. I have no idea why, maybe its because i didn't ride for 7months or something and just got out of the habit of not looking for police. I am positive my luck has run out and i sure as hell do not want to pass a police while using 18lb boost. I didn't even get pulled over for this but I'm sitting here LOL my ass of thinking about it. Prob close to 2 years ago I was stuck on a 2 lane hwy behind this group of cars and they were poking around big time. I dropped my bike down in first and WOT about 7K and whipped out and started passing all of them. Got all the way to front and realized the first car in line had a state trooper behind him!!!!! OH SNAP I can remember almost soiling my pants and having this feeling that if i tucked really hard he couldn't see me  I seriously felt like just jumping off my bike into the ditch to get away. Anyway, as I passed them i just kept it HAMMERED as long as i could. I remember taking all the road and getting home and my hands were shaking out of control:rofl: I think he didn't have a light bar on top and thats why i never saw him. I was riding with my friend on a zx10 and he said that it was the craziest **** hes ever seen while riding:rofl: so to answer your question I carefully decide to speed in certain areas. I feel like my Karma speed gods are against me and there is no way i can ever be as luck as i have been

121/50 in 2007 by unmarked black Dodge Charger with tinted windows. They could've taken my license, but thank to not-so-cheap lawyer I still kept it. This however certainly poisoned my riding - I have images of cops hiding behind every bush and every turn.

Yeah, my wife was pissed, but understanding.

It's interesting to point out that I got nailed because I was too nice. There was about 1/2 mile of empty space, but I stuck behind a couple of cars. Not wanting to scare drivers by passing too closely, I waited for the opening, and then proceeded to my 10 - 15 sec dash. But so did the unmarked charger. If I were to go right away, the Charger would've never made it around the cars. My conclusion - good deeds are punishable. ???

damn that sucks!!! I don't ever like to run really but when your going that fast you automatically know that you are ****ED big time. Not only is stock bike capable of out running cars but this turbo is another story

Me and my friends are constantly goofing off... I think if we did 80 or slower it would be like crawling on my knuckles. I was coming over a hill doing well over 110mph... saw a red light up ahead and a building where a cop was hitting me w/ radar. I stopped at the light and glanced at him. He didn't even pull out. I've blown passed police going well over 150mph and they never pull out. Around here, highspeed pursuits kill more people than anything, so they don't even bother. I do respect police and their duties but if there's no one on the road and the only person I'd hurt is myself....COME ON NOW!!!

My romps were always on the way in to work at around 3AM. I-45 and Beltway 8 down here are always dead at this time, and the urge is just too much.........I know if I'm gonna ride in I always wake up a little earlier just so I know I'm alert......

I try to control myself but the power is awesome. I like racing my friends, mostly late at night on empty roads. I am always looking for cops and hoping not to get caught. I have thought about selling the Busa and buying another Harley but can't seem to break my addiction. I have always been into speed and street racing, mostly cars. The Busa is so much more of a rush than the cars I used to have. I have been doing a lot of self control lately and hanging with the right crowd definately helps...I plan on setting up for the track and keeping my license. These are amazing machines...

Funny I should happen across this thread. I recently was stopped for 70 in a 55. Have yet to go to court but I am fighting it as I do really believe that I was not doing 70. I try to be very careful about my speed. With I-95 part of the daily commute, high speeds are the norm.

I agree that VA is very hard on speeders. They are especially hard on bikes. I swear that ALL sport bikes are overly scrutinized for speed.

I'm amazed at the internet chest thumping of people stating they will or have run from LEO's over a traffic infraction. Running turns it into a felony evading charge. Now that is an unwise decision!

I commute to/from work and have yet to get pulled over but if the lights flash, I'm stopping. I don't need a felony charge and besides, they generally have your tag before lighting the lights. Plus if you ride the turnpike they can check the films.....they have the technology.

No flaming please, my eyes are crossed from reading the entire thread.

+1000

When the lights are on I am stopping as quickly and safely as possible and from then on its licence and registration out and Yes, sir, no, sir. I have spoken with plenty of riders who have been nailed at big speeds but the officers let them off because of the way they acted after the lights came on.

I have 22 days till I get mine back.

Busa power isn't to be messed with for sure. Addictive yes, just gotta be careful when the nerve strikes!
