I have been thinking lately about whether the addiction that is BUSA-POWER is a good thing or a bad thing? The drug of massive acceleration and speed that comes with our rides is a tough one to moderate and I am just wondering if anyone else thinks about the odds of losing their licence on a regular basis? Personally I am very careful about time and place when I seek my fix but you can only be so careful and you never REALLY know where that police car might be hiding. The consequences of a bad decision can be as little as a two figure fine but we all know that they can be much much greater given the potential of our mighty Hayabusa.

A two figure fine? I wish but not here in Cali.
65 MPH in a 55 MPH = $464.00 fine
I still think it's pretty darn ironic that I got the damn thing in my truck while trailering my Busa.

Moved up to MD from Florida and had no idea that if you were on I66 in Virginia which some parts are 55 going 80 is actually a first degree misdemeaner against the common wealth and punishable with a $2500 fine and one year in jail.

And yes people do time there for speeding, some squids going 100 there a couple months ago go directly to jail, bike impounded served six months, plus the $2500 AND six month suspension AFTER release.

I avoid VA like the plauge when on the busa now.

holy crap!???

A few years back I lost my license for a year for going 70 over on the interstate (70mph limit) on a kawi ninja. I plead down to racing on a highway instead of reckless driving so it didnt go on my driving record. But the fine and penalties were twice as much!

only been pulled over once so far... and taht was a comfirtable 70 in a 55

Man, I am so lucky...I have so many twisties that you can't get a head of steam up..and then Silverado Trail is mostly no passing...and the tourists looking for their wineries. But sometimes I just give it a good rip for a short period of time...and back off.
Since I have taken it to track days a couple of times now it just seems stupid to speed to much. I am always 5-10 mph over the limit..but that is pretty common around here and the LEOs don't pay too much attention. 2hip

i pick the right place at the right time and make sure that i always have enough gas to go a min of 75miles before i get on it, because nothing could be wrose then saying i got caugth because i ran out of gas and next gas station might be a while and its a long push to get to one.

but my opion on

is that few months in jail isn't on the agenda and am not gana stop to let anyone have my ride; so they can jump on the crazy train and fallow if they want.

I get pulled over alot atleast once a month, I get alot of fix it tickets, never been caught speeding, but I think that because a patrol car cant keep up with me unless its a wide open freeway, I almost always spilt lanes. Typically when I do get pulled over its on the streets by LAPD or by CHP cycle cops, but here in Ca if you have ony mods they can and usually will pull you over if only to check your docs. Doesnt help that I am a Ruff Ryder, we get blamed for any and all squidly behavior on the freeways, typically its not even us.

I've been seriously lucky so far.

2 years ago I got pulled over doing 95 in a 65. 30 seconds earlier it was 120+ in that same 65. He told me to slow down and let me go. No written warning, no ticket.

Monday morning I was taking the wife to the airport in the Porsche. This MORON was in the carpool lane doing 55 (65 zone). Traffic wasn't heavy yet but would be within about 2 miles so I pass him on the right and nail it. I pass back left to get in front of him and notice I'm doing 87. That's also when I noticed the CHP pulling around the same moron.
I was already slowing back down to 65 so I'm sure he saw my brake lights. He stayed behind for a bit and I was waiting on that red light that never came. He eventually passed me and went on his merry way. More Karma points cashed in.

Loosing my driving privilege worries me. Just about all of my LEO encounters are during daylight hours. I get my fix when the sun goes down now or just when the sun is rising. It's been working so far.

"I am very careful about time & place but I do worry" for me.

I don't really worry too much as I am more careful of time and place, but you never know  You kind of know where the police hang around, but they have more unmarked cars now :moon:

Been riding since I was 14 no accidents or tickets since 7/77.
I have more endorsements on my license than a NASCAR drivers jump suit.
Not gonna say I don't punch it now and again but mostly on roads I know. I know the "badges" habits & spots their spots. The only thing I guard more closely than my family is my license.
Haven't been pulled over in about 15 yrs (everything crossed) No radar or Laser detector.
Stay vigil my friends stay vigil

Here is my 2 cents and it is what I do to take care of the addiction. I take my butt to a track to were I can let the beauty be a beast all she wants to for that day that way she gets it out of hers and my system that way when we get back on the street she is ok and so am I going the speed limit.

Do you know how hard it is to go the speed limit. Won't our biikes overheat or something? I usually maintain my speed when I see a cop. If I brake, he knows that I know that I am speeding (dead giveaway).
