Iron Butt Starting in Cleveland

I'm looking to a non-sanctioned Iron Butt ride this year. I anticipated I would be doing the ride on my own, as a person I used to call a friend is a wussy-monster and doesn't like to ride more than 50 miles in any direction. It's either lame or comical (depends on my mood).

I've not nailed down a specific date just yet, but I'll leave on a Friday night and be back before 24 hours is up. I've routed several stops I'd like to see, in which several of them I've never been. I'd actually like to go this Friday, June 3rd to Saturday, June 4th. Kickstand up at 11:00 p.m. I have a hardwired GPS and Radar/Laser detector (Escort Passport 9500ix)

The major cities I want to drive through their downtown are: Cleveland OH, Toledo OH, Fort Wayne IN, Indianapolis IN, Cincinnati OH, Charleston WV, Pittsburgh PA, then back to Cleveland OH.

In avoiding Toll roads, the trip is 1,036 miles with an approximate time of 19 hrs. and 0 mins.

So, will I be riding this one solo? BTW, it was NOT Colton I was referring to.

I will give this bit of advice. Avoid major cities. When i did my ironbutt i rode to Milwaukee through Chicago. Traffic was terrible thru the city. Lost a lot of time.

Pipefighter248 and I are planning a 1000. His first, my second. Not sure when, but sometime this summer.

Good luck and ride safe

Ride back up to Milwaukee again! Just sayin'...

Just for fun, I guess. I want to ACTUALLY do one before I embarrass myself.

My 2 cents: if you're gonna spend the time, money and energy to ride 1000 miles in under 24 hours, might as well go for IBA credit. The requirements are pretty easy to follow anyway (witness at start/end of trip, gas station receipts, etc.).
P.S. I have no doubt in my mind that YOU CAN DO IT!

wait a minute. you can get a recognition for doing this? heck i already did that. rode from dayton to my hometown in Louisiana a back a few years ago....

And the license plate frame. Don't forget that. Love seeing those.

Did my first Iron Butt 15 years ago riding 1200 miles nonstop in 22 hours. Rode 800 the next day.
goal was to ride 2000 miles in 2 days. The long distance thing is a bit addicting & has many devout followers.
