ip address

I guess it depends on why you want to do it as to how you would do it. If its for your protection from attack, setup a firewall to insulate you from the rest of the world. If its so nobody can trace questionable activities back to you, good luck with that.

sounds shady

Depending on your isp and account features, your ip address my be changing periodically anyway. I'd think they prefer to not assign static ip's unless you pay and/or request it.

The question that needs to be asked is how anonymous you intend to be... EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET can be tracked...... Trust me thats what I do for a living, network security...... Someone owns that public IP that you are using...

Just remember that every computer has a MAC address so even going to a public location with WIFI your sharing specific information on the net......... Just because you are behind a proxy or a firewall running NAT that just hides your machine not the public IP... If you do something irresponsible on a dialup account the ISP knows exactly who had that IP at any given time........

It can be done but not in an easy way..

it is a bet i have with a fellow student that i sit by in my networking class. we just started some cisco classes. i had told him that if you could that i dont think you can hide from everyone all the time and either way there would be someway to still track him down. just some what if bets from newbi geeks.

i have looked at the anomonizer. kinda cool. proxy settings are cool to play with too.

thanks fellas guess im right and wrong..lol

MAC can be manipulated as well however tracing packets to a unique identifier on your machine is possible.

I believe it is possible to remain completely anonymous with a combination of hardware / unregistered (easily illegally downloaded) os / faked mac address / multi-layered proxy, etc...

The easiest way is to go to an internet cafe and pay cash.

What you do online can still be tracked, just not who you are.

off subject but i have read that the goverment has tons of files on the internet stored now, they dont know what to do with it yet. according to what i read they have info on anyone that has ever used the net.

Ghost surf pro will bounce your IP from several different servers. Usually 5 to 7, A simple tracker will show the last in the series of servers you are going through. I have NEO trace. It will track darn near anything.

O.K. guys do you not remember the oreintal pecker?

How about the scams all over the internet?

The only reason a person would want to hide their identity is for no good?

Why help a person do this........
