Introducing FrankenBusa!

Ludicrous Speed

Registered
Bought this bike for a real steal, after the previous owner wrecked it. 2000 model. I replaced the fairing stay, nose, and subframe, and some small parts like bars and levers... Traded the wheels for a Hindle Street pipe, bought an arm and some R1 wheels. Put a solid hub with stout springs in the clutch, and that is it. No air shifter yet.

Went to our local 1/8th mile last night to try it out. Once I got used to riding an extended bike, I managed some consistent 6.33's and 6.34's, with a best of 6.31. I am 270 lbs in boxers.

Not bad for a total investment of $3000!

Some how I doubt that the two will ever meet, but if they do, it will be like a marty Mcfly meets himself in Back to the Future! Yours is too pretty to be called Frankenbusa

You had one! I want one of those Rock Clutches. My buddy sold his lightly used one and offered it to me complete with tuning kit for $1200, but I didn't have the cash:banghead:

True True!! I blame my addiction to speed!!

I want a stock gen 1 with the same paint scheme as my cut rail. TWINS!! To go cruise with my boys.. A wrecked one might fit the bill

Once you own one and its setup...you will never want anything else!!! Best Mod ever!!

Just ordered that bodywork, and of course, the upper and lower cannot ship in the same box. Nothing like paying shipping twice:banghead: $70 a piece!!!

A couple updates. I have all the Gen2 fiberglass bodywork for it. Here is a pic with the Gen 2 tail mounted:

I did not manage to get a pic with the upper mounted, before I started doing some bodywork to it and the tail. The race fairings do not come very complete (as far as the inner fairings go), and the lines do not match up well with the tank. It would be fine, but I want it to look a little nicer.

Here is what I am doing to the tail, since I won't be using the frankenstein bolts:

Removing the bumps and smoothing them out.

As I mentioned, the inner fairings are non-existant, and I wanted a cleaner look. Here is what I am going to try:

In this picture, you can see the large gap between the tank and the inner fairing.

I am making a template out of cardboard, that follows the lines I want........ (Notice the "inner" fairing stops at where the plastic pieces stop)
