I have been with AMD for about 15 years or ever since K5 days for those that remember. Anywho, I bought a middle of the road Intel Core i7 920 processor with a EVGA X58 motherboard last night. This processor is stock at 2.67 Ghz. Just wanted to share that on an air cooled unit I'm very pleased with the core speed I'm posting and that this thing is darn near Busa fast!:laugh::whistle:

My first was a cassette player for the drive, that plugged into the TV . What was that game ? Pong. I don't remember it was in the '70's

and just think the i7 is the platform they intend to make the 8 core procs.

I remember pong very well and the I think astroids at game land! I bearly remember myself. Those were some fun and worry free days my friend! :beerchug:

good to hear someone is getting something fast and fun to play with.. oh that sounds like my busa!!

now all you gotta do is find software that can utilize the CPU :)

At $289.00 for the i7 it was worth it to me. Run's through everything like a hot knife through butter! Even at stock 2.67 Ghz its quick quick quick! :cheerleader:

My new system runs the AMD Phenom X4 9850.. I looked at the Intel stuff but the comparable chip at the time was like almost $800 (AMD Phenom Quadcore was $250)

Funny but I think for gaming etc, the 3800 Barton I ran was just as good.. what I like is the new motherboards with all the SLI stuff.. I am currently running three SLI PCI2 cards.. the graphics are second to none.. Seems the peripherals are a bigger deal than the CPU's are now..

I have ran AMD for so long and I am loyal.... I even feel kind of bad that I jumped the fence. I have bought the AMD 6000+ and the Phenom 9950 only about six weeks ago. They are great processors. The EVGA X58 is running my dual ATI's in crossfire mode and I was supprised of that. I was glad since I did not want to spend on another set of NVIDA cards although EVGA really pushes the NVIDA stuff! I know you have some great graphics with tri cards.

I'm too cheap.. the latest system I bought was the Core 2 Duo, 4GB, 500GB, DVD+/-R DL, yada yada for $399. Added the 512 PCIeX graphics card for $40 and all is well...

Bottleneck is still the HD, oh well....

i did eye the i7 until I saw the price

If it makes ya happy though.. cool!
