Insurance question

I recently got full coverage but I was talking to a guy and he said that you have to go through a certain period of time before the insurance company would cover a loss claim(totaled bike). Anybody know if this is true and what the time frame is? Just want to know if I should be extra careful. I am with State Farm by the way. Thanks.

I am with Dairyland, and my bike was stolen 2 months after I bought it brand new. They (Dairyland) wanted to know if I have ever made a loss claim in my life before, proof that I still was working, criminal background check, and get this A CREDIT REPORT !!

The reason I know this is because they sent me a document that had to be signed, and it stated that all this would be checked. When I told them that the bike was recovered the first thing they said was "were there any arrests made"?  

Thank god there was !!!!  Because they were acting like they didn't believe me !!!!!   But I know people who got thier bike stolen, and had State Farm, they got a check in like a month and a half.

SO..... That was a VERY long way of saying, they may give you a hard time, but should cover it

There is a difference between totalled and stollen.  Totalled they should have an adjuster out to assess the damage and have a check in you hand within days.  With a stllen bike, they will drag their feet waiting to see if it turns up.

Each company will do things a little different though.

You are covered the second you give them payment. If you went on your bike to the agency to sign your policy and wrecked on the way home, they will and have to cover it. They will more than likley drop you. And yes you should be extra carefull, there have been too many wrecks this year already. BE SAFE ALWAYS.

When my Road King was stolen, my insurance paid of within 15 days. I was impressed! Yes, I signed a release of information as mentioned above. They have to work it hard to prevent fraud.

Were you RAPED on your next policy ?

My first year was up yesterday, (1 year anniversary, withmy Busa) anyway, called them up to see what my down payment would be, I ALMOST FELL DOWN !!!!!

........... $289.00 a month, for the next 11 months !!!! WTF, Had I known it would have been that crazy I would have just bought the new plastics myself. (that's all that was damaged when it was recovered)

And I just got my paper telling me I had to appear in court, for the trial of the 2 guys that got caught with my 2006 LE, an 06 GIXXER 1K, 06 1000 RR, and an 05 ZX10

NOW GET THIS, on the top of the paper, it says
COURT OF COMMON PLEAS
Some how they are only getting charged with a friggin misdemeanor !!!!! Can someone please tell me how almost $40,000.00 in stolen property isn't a felony ??

Anything over $400 in value is a felony, I would want to talk to the prosecutor and find out what kind of a deal he made.
