Indians Withdraw Treaties

That's GREAT, now THEY can pay for all their own cost of roads, electricity, water, land, public services (LEO's), jails (this aught to be fun), buildings and HEALTH CARE. And "OH YEAH", since they are no longer in the UNITED STATES, they will need a Passport to cross into any State. Gambling will be hard to get enough $$$$ out of to pay for all those required things

I didnt think that Native Americans owened land back then but where at one with it. Didnt they think we were the fool for paying them for something that they them selfs said the didnt own?

40 acres and a mule was for emancipation.
I know! But it really feeels good to know that I  might get two rewards!  Plus I'm just joking!  But, the wife is Lakota and related to Crazy Horse!
Can I build a track if you get 40 acres?

yeah! My family use to own what is now MOSS LAKE in Shelby, N.C.! I tried to buy the last 78 acres out of 1000 that my Grand father and his brothers purchased in the 1800's! But you know that kin folks, would rather see some one else have it than their own, So everyone except my mother didn't want to sale! So, they out VOTED her, only to get ripped off! I'm still keyed off about the whole thing! Boaders Road, is name after my Grand Father!

In the end the Fed. gov will do what it wants to do whether its legal or not. National Security gets uttered and they/we can do anything.

And BTW just because they were on the land first, what makes it theirs?? That land was there way before people. Not to mention they imigrated just like everyone else. They just got there first. There is no universal law that says who got there first owns it. Every single country in the world has expanded or shrunk its boarders.

So are they now squatters on American public land, illegal aliens as it were

??
that's how I see it, they lost the war and the treaty let them stay on the land. Now if they back out of the treaty they forfit on the land and we take it all back???
Oh cum'on that is about the most ridiculous thing I have heard all week.

They were here first, this is their land, how can you even consider illegal alien status? At best it is a land dispute like the Israelis and Palestinians.

Besides everybody knows it is a ploy to get a casino approved off the Reservation so as to benefit from interstate traffic.

Exactly, we kicked their arse just like Israel kicked arse.

I don't even care about the subject at hand because it's really only a scam like the rest to get more money out a Uncle Sam ( tax payers )

Some try to make losers winners, not me................

Pretty certain we are the Squatters, the illegal aliens.
Because WE can and have taken and held the land, does not make it ours by right....

If another man can take and hold your own personal home against your will should he be legally allowed to keep it

Second time in the thread to this point that someone has made this comment. The answer is no, because as a US Citizen you have rights that are protected by the state, however the state can and that's the difference.

Lots of farm families lost thousands of acres in the 80's. Foreclosures.

Squatters? Now how could that be? No one was here first. Native Americans? Cant be. Here before Europeans...yeah...probably. But certainly not..."been here forever and have legal rights to everything". In the beginning there were only two (humans). Does that mean it all only belongs to them?
My understanding is that its (popularly) theorized that Native Americans actually came from Eastern Asia and crossed land bridges to get here. Not so native to me. First come first served? Or might makes right? It is what it is.

The same type of thing happened here in Colorado. The tribes said they were claiming their land back. If they were given so much land by the new airport, to build a casino on, they would release their claim on the land. It was a pretty rediculous claim, but when I refinanced my house I had to sign a paper stating that I was aware that my house was on land that was included in their claim.
