It's probably just me. I ride quite regularly and I'm beginning to feel like this thing just ain't that fast. Has anyone else gotten use to the power like this so quickly? I've only had it 2 months. This is my 4th bike and I'm beginning to get that familiar itch. TIME FOR N2O!

I would guess it depends on what you were used to before. I owned a ZX7R before my Busa and I have not gotten used to the power yet and I have had mine a few months now... the thrill is always there.

I did do some minor mods though which did help.

whachu talkin 'bout willis!! :super:

put on a 16 tooth front sprocket. its cheap, and should quickly remind you why you got the busa.

if its slow, maybe you got one with the timing chain off one tooth. what year, how many miles?

Cache,
I don't think the timings off. I can get it to run 6.50's in the 8th mile. It's an 2003 40th and it's rapidly aproaching 3k. I got the first service around 500 miles. Maybe even less than that. I also changed the oil Friday. I always wonder if the valves are right after the first service. Paranoia I hope. It's like pulling teeth around here to get a good service. I always worry that it may have gotten slower after each trip to the track. Just one of those things I guess. How hard is it to check the timing? Cloud9, my last bike was a 99 GSXR750. Not a blindingly fast bike but, a wheelie machine due to it's short wheelbase. A few mods, but I left it at stock ride height. Could be a real pain to launch sometimes. By the way, how hard is it to change out the front spocket at home?:super:

front sprocket change is easy.

I run faster every time I hit the track. it never sees the street anymore, just the 1/4 mile EVERY weekend.
personal best of 9.68 on sunday...

Must by your mad riding skills.

Nothing faster on the street, wheelies anytime you want.

Chews up anyting out there.

Must be you.

Don't worry it's called the "SPEED FREAK" syndrome and it's not curable!  Well.........unless you want to go out strapped to the front of a ROCKET SHIP?!?!

I get it with every toy I own and sometimes you just have to take a break and try something else.  Heaven forbid but try and take a year or two away from the bike.  A good break should do it for you and then start riding again, that’s what helps me.

Wait, you just bought a BUSA! My bad.......let the Modifications begin!

It sounds like you're simply getting used to the power. There's nothing stronger out there stock, so if you need more power, torque or speed, you may want to invest in an F-16 fighter jet.

Are you sure you are using all the gears? Through 10000 rpm's
I have over 11000 miles and I find it amazing still.

I definatley find my busa absoloutly awsome.....but there is a lot of fast chit out there now. I have became quit comfortable with the power of mine, yes the speed freak syndrom. I'm only afraid of another bike that's close or passes the bus, and I feel Kaw. Yam. Hon. are all starting to get closer and closer. It isn't 1999 anymore, if you think about it the busa set the standard then, and hasn't changed much since. So yes there are plenty of bikes catching up to us. Don't get me wrong the busa is awsome, and fits me better than anything that is out there,,,,,,,,,,,but I'm starting to look for more power. If I can sell my banshee this winter I'll be in the market for a turbo to help me stay waaaayyyyy ahead of most everyone else.

Am I the only one that feels this way??

Your Busa is not getting slower. You are just getting faster! (If that makes sense.) I remember the first few weeks I rode mine. I rode it every day and after a few weeks I remember waking up one weekend morning and noticed me opening up the damn bike for all it had every where I rode.. I kept thinking that the power and speed slowly disappeared, but it wasnt the bike, it was only me!!

Congrats: You have been bit by the BUSABUG....... Let the mods begin. :beerchug:

Unless you are out every Friday Saturday night Trolling for Cash $$$ Races, The fear of another bike being faster is really pretty silly.

There is allways something faster coming, always will be. Besides how often do you really line up toe to toe for a real Drag on the streets? (Unless like I mentioned your hunting for it.) I know there are a whole lot of bikes in the Tampa area, and I see them here and there, but I have yet to pull up next to another litre class bike at a light, nothing. It just doesn't come up, let alone finding another Busa, 12R, or something that might "threaten."

If you are stepping up to the plate and being real about it at your local 1/8th 1/4 mile track then my hat is off to you, mod away and happy draggin. Otherwise, worrying about which bike is the absolute fastest and worrying about whats coming down the line is nothing more than ego, bench racing and bragging rights. Really not worth worrying about, but it is sorta fun to watch... :D Just don't forget that your not your bike, and all of this is supposed to be fun... ;)

i have a 2001 with 8000 and although i love it im only putting out 155 rhp with several mods including full akrapovic and pcII whats this about timing chain one tooth off that could also explain the blue flame i get when i let off at times?

It is just you! :tounge:

My husband's a speed freak; he took my Busa out last night and came back shaking his head...he said he just can't ride that bike because he'll be in too much trouble, then he proceeded to tell me that he'd gone 100, 120 and 120 MPH again in just a two mile trip...he couldn't believe how quickly he accelerated to 120...

Perhaps you should invest in a rocket to space?!
