Ok, the unit works nice but it has an issue with false alerts on the laser channel.. any one else? or any ideas? I figure I can just tape over the laser ports but seems a bit silly to have to do that..

My Valentine1 does this too... Here is why mine does it:

It works perfect on my Jeep, and on the busa...Except; when I put it in my '07 Infinity FX, the laser goes off like crazy... I figured out it is the "forward looking smart guidance system or intelligent cruise control and lane detection system sets it off) EVEN when I supposedly have the cruise control set to "OFF". Now I notice when I am in in the Jeep or on the busa, I get laser hits from other FX's and the odd high end Mercedes...

Hope this helps

hmm interesting but mine does it without any traffic around me.. I thought maybe sunlight somehow but then it does it at dusk as well... I am thinking it has something to do with the Puig "faux" carbon fiber double bubble..

Hmm, did you try it in your cage to see if you have the same problem

DONT YA HAVE A SWITCH ON YOUR RADAR DETECTOR WHERE YA CAN SWITCH MODES. X,KA AND XA BANDS. STOPLIGHTS , GARAGE DOORS AND A BUNCH OF OTHER STUFF CAN MAKE THE X BAND GO OFF

Yup, I had the prob with my old BEL RX65 pro so I sent it back to beltronics for an update and service ($50) same thing ... So I buy a $450 9500i andddddddddd ... same thing! on 2 different Busa's I tried re-routing wire, relocating the unit, changing the wind screen, and same thing ... any other ideas plz

I think the busa emits some sort of frequency and the problem is only with Lazer. The unit works perfect in the truck and car.

I know of TWO 8500s that do the same thing..... I can trip the laser alert by flooring it in my Doge 1500 HEMI.... but ONLY when using the remote hardwire....if I use the cig. lighter, it won't do it.
I attributed it to voltage variance on whatever source I chose under the dash.

Never mounted it on the Busa.

How do you got it wired in? Possible electric noise could be messing with it.

Some of the new gadgets on the latest cars/suv's out there have been shown to possibly mess with laser enabled detectors. Like the taillights of a new chevy blazer or other vehicles. Set the laser off on my V1 a few times when coming up behind them this past season.

It's the Escort 9500i right? The Radar Roy Forums are pretty good on help and tips and cover just about all units out there. Check this thread: http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=35245

one thing is for sure...the power on the busa IS fithly....
I found that out after hooking up the charging unit for my chatterbox.....I can hear the revs through my helmet speakers.

is there a resistor rated spark plug?

the best bet is to use the neg post on the battery as the feed...and steer clear of the fuel pump when running wires for other devices.

does not do it in the car (Chevy van, Pontiac GP or the BMW) only on the bike.... I have no idea of the wavelength of the radar but the only thing other than the fake CF DB windscreen would be maybe EFI from the HID ballasts some how? but the problem is intermittent and I am still trying to put all the puzzle pieces together when it does it.. I thought it was reflected light (could still be) but I have not run it at night yet (still a bit chilly here)

well guess this is going to take some more work... I can put a choke on the power line and try moving some stuff around..

Just seems that as laser is a "line of sight" and technically a visual thing, EMI would not be a likely culprit but hey ya never know I guess..

I will cover the diode up top that receives the laser and see if that stops it tomorrow..

And I was told by someone on this very board that the i9500 was the best, and my V1 was a piece of sh!t.

Several infrared and near-infrared signals can cause false alerts on the laser detectors. Learn to like it. My V1 only does it with a few know sources. Certain third brake lights, and some neon signs.

Known issue for ALL laser detectors..... MB, you can disable the laser feature on your detector! IF your running a jammer then you don't really need that feature anyway! There are a lot of sources unfortunately that can cause this condition especially if you live near a base or airport!

I think laser is a pretty much instant thing anyway. The detector tells you that you just got a ticket. Unless you have a lot of police using laser checkers I'd cover it, a distraction you don't need especially if it's mainly doing it at high rpm.
