I recently watched a very touching movie and reflected upon my own actions here in this walk we call life. Change is difficult for me but I am trying to be more compassionate to my fellow man.

All through the film, I held the same thought:

If I treated the living with as much honor and respect as the military does their deceased, this would be a much better life to live.

The movie was not a block buster and is not action packed, adventurous, romantic or even very exciting, but there are few that can make me teary eyed, and even as I write these words, I can not get the image out of my mind of a long, slow, disciplined salute to honor the fallen as the casket passes.
One of the things that make it such a fine movie, is that it is a true story.

The movie is Taking Chance and stars Kevin Bacon.

I highly recommend this movie to everyone and specially those in the service or are veteran.

Neither my father nor I ever served in the services, but we work on Aerospace and military programs and have always supported our fighting men and women who protect our freedoms.
This is my thanks to all my brothers and sisters out there who serve our great country.

Thank you, and if we should ever meet, it will be my honor and pleasure to break bread with you.

RS McNamara. Nicest man I ever met. If your in Vegas PM for a visit.

Nice post.

You are fortunate to be born in the US, I did two years and so did everyone else if you were a male, it was compulsory, very little money and no benefits once completed. It was a good experience though and I did it with pride.

We have a son, second time around in Iraq and share your feelings about a big praise for everyone serving.

Nice write-up Bubba. I'll be moving Taking Chance to 1st place & next in line on my Netflix account

God bless the USA :usa:

Great movie IMO.
Kevin Bacon was really good in it.
So much respect, even when no one was watching.
Very rare and moving.
Thanks for the heartfelt thoughts.

Thanks all,
You will not regret renting this tape, and it will give you a new found respect for the protectors of our rights.
I salute them all.

Taking Chance hits very close to home for some of us; it is a very well made movie. It made a room full of Marines let tears fall when we watched it here...

I agree Bubba....I caught the tale end of the movie on TV one evening & finally got to see the entire movie a few weeks ago and glad that I did. It was very moving. :beerchug:

Bubba...I will watch it on your recommendation.

Please pass the tissue.

Bubba, props on your goal to become a better man (something we all need to strive for). Thanks for the movie recommendation. I'll check it out at BB.
