so I have been pretty unhappy at my current job with the Coleman co. I have been here 2.5 years after being laid off from the IBEW. I have learned a great deal here and was recently offered a position withe the FAA. I will actually have a retirement program now along with other good benefits.:cheerleader::cheerleader: My official title will be the Environmental Specialist. Basically i will be working on the high voltage runway lighting, backup generators and power systems, as well as the radar systems. The process to get a federal job is unreal

does anybody here work for the FAA?

I have been trying and man is it crazy, the federal app process is like no other.. I have been a IBEW Equipment Operator/Truck Driver for years and safety officer, also with tons of environmental licenses for lead/asbestos...Plus a vet and have recieved more not qualified letters for jobs I have all the experience for,crazy I say..

yea, well you see i got really lucky in that respect. my buddy was supposed to get the job, but he already took another job in arkansas and he gave them my name. next thing i know im getting a phone call for an "unofficial" interview. tried the online crap, but it was like going down a rabbit hole and i gave up after the resume was submitted and couldnt find some code to access a different page.
anyhow, its all in the past and i cant wait to get started. my buddy waited and filled out paperwork for 8 months just to hand me the torch. :laugh: Im really excited to start, however I know im going to crush my boss as he is already short staffed because coleman wont hire anybody. the shop has gone from 22 maint. men on first to just 12. of which onlly 2 of us are able to program or troubleshoot electrical. now they will just have one, and he plans to leave soon as well.

Congrats man, nothin better than being able to leave a job for something better, that's a good feeling.

Congrats, had my chance, got 2nd interview, by then, I got tired of the chain pulling and stayed where I was at.

congrats! i know how much you've been wanting out of that one, glad it's working out :beerchug:

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

BTW If you also decide to pass on the job throw my name at them, I am sure I can falsify any documentation needed to make me look qualified for the role. I will wing it after I am in :laugh:
