How can you tell when you actually need to do something with the timing chain?

The reason I ask is...I know they make noise cold.. and thats normal. But mine is very very loud when warm too. Like, give a quick rev and you hear chain hiss on the way back down....

When and how can I tell? Also could it need a valve adjustment?

Here's a :bump: for you.

I :dunno: and I'm kind of surprised that someone hasn't chimed in with their :2cents:

is it a new noise, or has it been there all along?

Mine started to knock and then about a mile later the engine blew up.

If your engine is making new noises, consider it a warning sign...have it looked at asap!

BTW-nice avatar and signature pics!!!

well.... It has been there since ive owned it... 8000 miles... I bought it with only 8K..but it was dragraced for a lot of that 8K. Who knows if its the factory motor? I just wasnt sure if you guys could hear your chain vibrating when the revs come back down... could be that it is colder outside as well...I noticed my idle getting higher too.
