Okay I've had it.... No more news for me.... No more Fox, CNN, ABC News, No Washington Post, NY Times or local paper either... No TV News, no local news....

I just can't stand to see all the garbage that is being put out there these days... Is this what our country is all about?

Does a man have a legal right to sell a "how to" manual for pedaphiles?

A woman sues because she is fired for posting on a social forum negative things about the company she worked for....

San Fran making happy meals healthier at McDonalds because parents are too lazy to manage their own kids...

Obama, Democrats, Republicans, Tea Party members, you name it, can people just not get along anymore or is the media just grabbing all the crappy negative divisive topics and throwing them out there? I am going to stop reading, watching and updating myself with media and see if I get into a better mood.

I just don't believe that in this day and age our country can be this bad... Are the articles we read on the news stations just one in a million or are they really mainstream stuff?

I plan to keep myself away from those places for 1 month and try to interact with people more and the Internet less.......

Anyone want to try this with me?

Been doing it for several years. Mostly garbage and half truths at best. Three quarters of it is Hollywood/Celeb coverage, I could care less about Lindsay, Tiger or Mel.

I came to this realization a little over 2 years ago. The media is a complete joke. Just an expedited way to spread bullsh!t. I'll make my own assessments when I see it for myself. Until then, anyone who has an opinion on any news network can shove it up their own a$$.

It took you this long to figure out our country is going to hell? It's pretty obvious when the least biased news coverage for the day is "How To Loose 10 lbs for the Holidays". I mean.. really? Thats the only bit of news that has the least amount of corporate opinion out of all the BS that comes from the news media... wtf!

as mentioned, most of whats on the air, on the web, etc is almost 90-95% spin and about 5% fact. The spin varies on who you are hearing it from. I typically dont watch the news, heck I'm usually not home anyway  but when I see something online that grabs my attention, I will use the google news service and read the same data from 3-5 different sources (ie not all AP regurgitated crap). Somewhere in the middle you can find the essence of the truth but you'll never find exactly what happened.

The pedophile thing, I saw that and was like, you have to be f'ing kidding me. I get the first amendment but somehow this seems illegal on the face, if its not it should be. And the shame of it all, not one politician will touch it. :banghead:

I could care less about the legalities of it all, what publisher thought it would be a good idea to even take the guys work to print in the first place... There is a whole list of unacceptable things that had to happen for the book to ever be presented to amazon.....

Once again, where is common sense and decency... Someone at the publishers and Amazon should lose their job for the poor decision making on this one...

I would rather more of them saying here are the facts you decide.

The problem is it is mostly them saying here are some of the facts and this is what you should think about them. They may say unbiased reporting but everyone has an agenda. I think papers should be printed on yellow paper.

From personal experience the paper gets most stuff wrong anyway. When I still ordered the paper I would see an article about a bad traffic accident and wonder why I didn't know about it. Come to find out it was the one I investigated. It made me wonder if my reports were too confusing. They were messing up little things like car types and injuries reported. Go figure.:poke:

I agree with you cap :beerchug: I just never had the balls to say anything.. I didnt wanna start anything or rub anyone the wrong way..

Lighten up. I settled in the good old USA in 2001, before that I spent many moons in different countries. Besides South America, Mexico and Russia, I have been just about everywhere.

The US is a good place to be, the best by a long shot!!!

For every bad thing that sells and grabs attention in the media, there are tons of good things happening around us all the time. We have to just open our eyes to see them, appreciate them and live them.

Yup the news can be depressing, the media loves sensational over factual. 2 Tim 3:1-5 has come true.

The only problem is Doug, when your voice is lost, the debate is left to the other's who remain. Read that socialist manifesto that's been referenced before; one of the tactics is to blast the rhetoric and attack so hard that the other side just gives up and quits.

If good men do nothing, evil wins.

i vote we buy some land, put a big fence around it, and start an .org commune  the only time we'll come out from behind the gate is to ride at warp-speed so we don't have to interact with anyone else :beerchug:

Biggest problem is it is a lot easier to report the news now from stuff that happens in places we never heard of. Compile that with everything else and it get overwhelming. Truth be told people were just as messed up "Back in the day" as they are today, just now its more/easier vocalized in the news. Plus there is a lot more of us in the world now. More people means more bad lemons.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm  , sounds like more fans for Retro TV and the Western Station, where men are men and the low lifes go to PRISON

Even if I disagree with you politically you should still stay in the fight. Reason with those you can about your views and make yourself heard.
One person can make a difference. I never thought so when it comes to the little guy and the big guns of Washington but I was wrong.
Example: I video taped Joyce Kaufman down here in South florida giving a speech to the tea Party..."if ballots don't work bullets will!" and the crowd cheers. She also said illegals who commit crimes should be hung. Well I sent that to every media outlet I could find.
Alan West had picked her for his Chief of Staff. Yesterday she withdrew because of that video.

Like it or not, one person can make a difference. The media is about rating. We will never get the 100 percent truth.
I think if it effects your health, blood pressure etc. than stepping back is good.

common' captain.. this morning i caught an article on houston's chron.com on women tweeting their abortions. do you really want to stay away ??

Illegals (AND legals) SHOULD be hung for committing violent crimes...off topic.

how do you think we feel (soldiers)? over in afghanistan fighting for their right to do this. it just seems wrong. well, what people do with their own freedom is their own business, but so many more things seem to have made sense in the 50's. not that i was around, but from what i was able to glean from history class. i'm afraid of what another 50 years will do to our fair country.
