me and my friend did 5,000 miles riding across Northern Europe / Scandinavia both on 2010 bikes mine 1441

Just realised we could have ridden across the US

Germany , Denmark , Sweden Norway Sweden Finland , Sweden , Denmark Germany using Channel tunnel

spent £600 on fuel ($804) and 400 litre 88 UK gallons =56 mpg UK (46.6 US MPG) really impressed with that

Fitted Michelin Road 6 with 7 mm tread , as only wire just over 2mm off rear tyre over 5,000 miles

We camped and rode 10 hours per day

I had one issue fuel relay wire shorted on frame and bike stalled doinh 90 mph on Danish motorway 2 hours fault finding a fix wax found

Switch added to bypass fuel pump relay and was fixed later thst night with 15 year old bike at 117,000 miles these things happen

Amazing trip and thanks for posting all the pics.

On a road bike, I can have more fun doing what you guys did, than riding across the US. We have lots of open land and boring interstate highways, with the Popo watching.

I did the Trans America Trail once, on an enduro bike, starting in Tennessee, all the way to Oregon, 60% + offroad, which was a great experience.

It's hard to beat the fun in what you folks did though.

i had 1 issue of Safety and it reminded me of a Harold Lloyd or Buster Keaton silent movie scene

Riding from Norway to Sweden i was approaching a major Swedish intersection ( remember i normally Ride on the left) i should have slowed to turn left into the right hand lane. But my eyes expected to see give way or stop highway markings in front of me with street furniture. But virtually nothing so i just plain rode over the intersection at 30 mph and onto the on-ramp of another highway. Between the passing vehicles driving across the highway. I must have just have timed it just right. No T Bone, no broken leg , hip or worse or Come home in a box.. A very rare mistake, another cat's lives lost.

i paid more attention after that with crossing 8 countries with their own peculiarities of Highways codes

Yes, going from right to left drive lane is a tricky thing....

While in Cyprus, I don't know how many times troops have ended up on the wrong side of the road after going through a round-a-bout......

Then spending 6 months there and coming home and ending up on the wrong side of the road here......

i'm just swapping out the Generator coils as this has also got short circuit, will get some low mileage coil sticks next. The 15 years of heat takes its toll. i'm already on my 4th Rectifier/ regulator and fuel pump was replaced last year
Change the fuel pump to a 2013 onwards, far better design and less headache compared to the early Gen 2 designs.

Not bad going considering the amount of kms.

I hit a pefectly paved "clover leaf" exit this afternoon. About halfway around I heard a voice: "What would Bumblebee do..?"

So I leaned in and gassed it...
