Where were you guys. We were expecting you, but you never showed. Sorry to hear about the bike problems.

Get some HD studs from APE if you don't already have them, if you need other parts let me know.

Sorry to hear you popped your top...

John

No Race Gas
And I never changed the settings after it was dynoed
But Steve told me that he has seen some of the heads lift if
they don't have HD head bolts

This will be a new adventure for me
might need some advise on the fix
so far
Iam going to install
head gasket
base gasket
timing chain
hd bolts and nuts
65lb valve springs
cam sprockets
thats all
what do you think

Sorry to hear, Kevin :(

APE studs are definitely the way to go...

Let me know if you need anything. I've got the sockets to pull the engine and the ring compressors (if you choose to use 'em - last time I just used my fingers LOL). I had mine apart replacing the head gasket 3 different times... LOL

We tryed to find the starting point in camdenton but couldnt find it
so we thought we would go to a lunch stop
so we went to the cave place at the time listed on the route paper
and no one was their so Jake and I called it a day after putting about 300 miles
on the bike
Went to my place sat on the dock and drank beer:beerchug: and then went to sunrise cantina
and ate some Mex food
and then called it a night
maybe we can try it again

I might have to take you up on those sockets
what about dialing in the cams
any exp on that

None on the cams...need a degree wheel. I would have Steve degree the cams... But if you get the degree wheel...I want to say that around 105º is where you want to set them. But I stand to be corrected...I can't recall. Gary, John, JC...or some of the others may know...

I do have an intake cam if you're looking for one...

at 6 psi you either have a bad map and ran lean or experienced boost creep and ran lean

without knowing your setup, I would say your mistake was lack of octane...

what you need depends on what boost you plan to run.

6psi....put a gasket in it and be done. Think of the headgasket like a fuse...if it doesn't blow, expensive things melt. (hence why I don't suggest studs)

I see no need for the timing chain unless you see reason once it is open or your bike has a ton of miles. Thicker Base gasket and cam sprockets go hand and hand.

If you lower compression via a base spacer you will hate riding your bike with only 6psi. It will have very noticable lag and it won't have much of a hit.

I like the way you think
when I checked it out yesterday
when I cranked it over crankcase pressure was coming out
of the vent filter
I would say that their is a hole in a piston and if their is
it has to be from a lean run

if thatis the case...depending on your budget...I would strongly consider turbo pistons if they are burnt..

yes you can put stockers back in but nice turbo units will resist detonationa bit better than stockers...

then you need to look into the issue that caused the mess.

keep us updated and thanks to the members that have the know how

If you holed a piston on a 4 stroke motor you had a serious fuel problem. It went unbelievabley lean.....Please make sure you fix the fuel problem before you fix the piston and ride it, or you will be doing the repair all over again. If moe than one piston is torn up, you have a major fuel map issue. If it is only one piston, then you have a problem with that one cyclinder getting gas. Good Luck on your repair!
