And like others have said.... your first mod should be gear. Leather and lots of it!

As the others have mentioned, good gear, and then do the kickstand mod. Look it up, it may save your bike.

I wear a leather jacket and gloves year round, along with SIDI drag boots. Usually just jeans, but I am looking into some sort of textile for pants

Welcome. ANY slider is better than NONE (ask the guys who've had a driveway tip over)

Welcome and can't wait to see what she looks like! Sliders will help minimize the damage on most eventualities, but mostly on driveway spills. Do the kickstand mod and take your time getting comfortable with the bike.
