I'm not descriminating guys!  Just want an idea about how many women ride the Busa?  Any problems?  Was it your first bike, or your 10th!?  Your chance to brag...anything...

I don't mind hearing from the guys either...just so you don't feel left out!

We only have 2 or 3 active female Busa riders, but there are more that have been on and off the board. I have met and ridden with the two you will probably hear from, and they both can ride the hell out of the Busa. Both have their bikes lowered.

If you likethe Busa, hang out hear. i am sure you will learn a lot and you don't have to worry (much) about disrespect.:D

Well, I hope I can ride 1/2 as well as they can...I sat on a 2003 Busa twice; no problem putting both feet down firmly on the ground, so I don't think I'll have to lower it...

Thanks for the info Thinker (like your tags, by the way!)...I can take some heat from you guys...but respect is a nice thing at times too...

Michelle...not riding, just dreaming...;)

Good looking crew...you in that pic Thinker? I'll post pics of myself (sans Busa) once I get it! No point in putting up pics of me and the little yellow Harley!

Damn, those gals' bikes stand out - very nice...

Michelle...not riding, just posting...

Hey VaBusa,
Welcome to the board!  When are you planning on getting your new ride?
I wish there were more ladies posting on this board.  LoBusa, for one, has her ride totaly hooked up with all sorts of mods and a beautiful custom paint job that you just wouldn't see on a guy's bike.
BTW:  If anyone makes you feel uncomfortable here, please speak up.  As with any public forum there are a few bad apples.  Just remember that the site administrators and all the rest of us value your presence and input on this board.
Hope you'll post some pics of your new baby once you get it!

Ben

Thanks Ben...
C-Ville, huh? My sister used to live there, hung out with Dave Matthews and the crew (yeah, I'm jealous!)...it's a nice town, and a nice drive from where I am.
I can handle the "bad apples"...at least it's not the norm like other boards I've been on...I won't get in to that. I just like learning what I can from others that enjoy the same things...no judgement necessary, right?!
I can't wait to get my new baby! It's maddening! ;)

Ok here it is...Flying Swan is far left...she has a Motorcycle Cafe in Vancouver BC. Lobusa is next. She started with a Harley too. Then there is Chicago, a good friend of mine from Chicago. Then me, from Chicago but living in Portland, OR. Last is Bog...Swan's boyfriend (Canada). Tomorrow, I hope to have a picture of the entire group.

We are doing the Laguna thing again next year. VA isn't too far, just takes some planning. We had guys from NJ, GA, LA, TX, NV, IL, WA, CA and Canada.

So when are you getting the Bus?

Michelle,
I still have a hard time thinking of Dave Mathews as a big international band.  I remember when they were just an average local band playing at the night spots in c'ville.  A guy I went to high school with is still their sound guy.  It's funny to me everytime one of my friends that has moved here in the past few years freaks out over a "Dave sighting".
Hey, let me know if you ever want to cruise on over to c'ville.  Maybe give you a chance to put some highway miles on your new bike during the break-in.

Sorry I hijacked your thread here.  I'll turn it back over to the ladies.

Thinker - thanks for the invite to Laguna...have to see what the hubby would say about that trip! If his Harley could keep up, I'd invite him. I'd love to meet guys/gals from here once I'm riding...oh, and so you were saying you're the good looking one second from the right? ;)

You have the bike I originally wanted...I love that blue/silver paint! Does the headlight cover hinder night vision at all? I'd like to do something like that to mine, but I keep reading about how great the Busas headlights are; wouldn't want to mess that up...you're the first I've talked to that can answer that for me! Lucky guy?!

I've got about a month before I can go get my 2003 Busa...I keep visiting it, and hoping no one else gets it...my hubby's selling a jet ski/buying a boat, and I'm trying to sell my Harley, so we've just got lots going on right now...I am getting very impatient though...

Ben...
I remember way back in the 80's (remember that?!) my sister was a member of a fan club...she'd get small letters and CD's in the mail from DMB, and I didn't have a clue about them...years later, she moved to C-Ville, managed "The Wall" store right there in town, and would regularly go have coffee with Boyd just across the street...

She once had the drummer's (Carter) parents stop by her store looking for guitar sheets or something, and Steph, my sister, being the social butterfly that she is struck up conversation with the father...before too long, he let out that his son was in a band...he was very humble when he said "maybe you've heard of them?  The Dave Matthews Band?"  She just busted out laughing because they're one of the biggest bands, and he was so unsure that she'd know them...she's got good stories...

So, since I missed the initial wave of fans in the 80's, I only think of them as an international band...I go see them faithfully every summer...them and Jimmy Buffett!

Don't mind you hijacking the thread, by the way...not many gals around right now anyway...

C-Ville would be a great ride...

The headlight cover looks great with the smoke wind screens, and I got smoke signal covers too. During the day I run hi beams just to make sure John Law doesn't have probable cause to have a chat with me. At night, I could probably get away with it too, but for safety sake, I just pull it off. It is held on with clear velcro. It fits in the trunk, but I usually stick it in my jacket.

Tell hubby to get a Busa too. that hardley won't seem like much fun anymore. Actually, I love the V-Rod...perhaps when I hit 65.

The hubby is afraid of a bullet bike...he knows he loves speed too much to be careful, so he's happy with his 1200 Sportster for the moment...we recently lost someone close to us on a bullet bike, so I think that plays a big part too.

I suspect he might change his mind once he rides on mine...

I didn't know the covers were held on by velcro - that's cool...makes it easy, doesn't it?

Oh, and my husband test drove a V-Rod...he said it's nice, but too damn expensive, like most Harleys!  We saw a demo V-Rod on Saturday at our Harley dealer...it had a custom paint job, and they were asking $21,000+ out the door!  OUCH...I can't afford Harley's anymore...

Welcome to the board!! I don't think disrespect is an issue toward woman...I haven't seen it. So I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

Tell the hubby...don't fear the busa...as long as you treat her right she will treat you right.

Once again welcome.

VaBusa, WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!!! Glad to see another female "soon to be Busa rider"!!! Female riders are rare, female riders who ride Busa's are "extremely rare". Welcome to a very exclusive club!!! I started with a Harley Fatboy, rode my friends Busa one day and never looked back.... (within 3 mos. had my own Busa) Ended up selling the Harley because it was gathering dust in the garage.

The Busa is an awesome machine and CRAZY powerful. If you respect the bike and ride within your limitations then the bike will respect you. Lots of guys I have spoken to say they would kill themselves on a Busa because of the speed. I guess if you know that you have no self-restraint then maybe you should stick to mopeds!! I confess I love speed (ask the Laguna gang) but I respect just how much speed the Busa has and don't abuse it..

I am a Busaholic... I have done tons of mods to my bike and do alot of my own work on it. I have taken it to the track (awesome experience) and ride through the canyons like the wind. It's unbelievable how the Busa handles in the corners..... I love the twisties and can hang with most smaller bikes. But most of all, I just love the way the bike looks!!! It's a beautiful machine and I am very excited for you to be getting one!!!

If you ever have any questions about the busa, hayabusa.org is a wealth of information. I have learned so much about my bike here, met lots of great people and forged lasting friendships as well.... The guys here are wonderful!! There's really only one other female who posts regularly now, her name is Flying Swan. She has the custom painted Lavender/Silver Busa... She is so cool! I am leaving in 2 weeks and trailering my bike to Portland (hookin up with Thinker) and we're riding into British Columbia to ride with Swan and her friends.. That's how cool it is around here.

Sorry this is so long, but I get carried away when it comes to talking about the BUSA!!! I am attaching a pic of me and my bike (I call him Dexter).... Keep hanging out and you will know so much about your bike before you even get it... And post a pic too!! (the guys will love it!!!)

Congrats!!!!!

LoBusa -
Thanks for your reply!  Thinker actually told me I should PM you, and I was going to, but I've been busy with work (yeah, right) and surfing the net looking at Busas...hey, I do what I can to curb the appetite I can't quench just yet...great to find some gals to bounce things off of, and the guys here seem great...I'm sorry I didn't join a long time ago!

Great to hear that you started on a Fatboy, by the way.  That's the Harley I really wanted to upgrade to from my 883, but to be honest, I don't like paying $18,000+ for a bike.  I like my little Sportster, but I've been looking at the Busas for about 9 months now (yeah, long time looking) and I finally forced myself to research whether or not many women ride them.  I ended up on an Australian Hayabusa board that offered a wealth of support and info from the handful of women riders that post there, as well as some very supportive guys, so I told my husband "yes, I want one!"

Since posting on the Aussie board, I've done nothing but work myself up over this damn bike...I don't know anyone that has one, I have only seen two (that's right, just two!) Busas on the road; one was in Las Vegas in May, and the other was just the other day in Norfolk when I was pulling in to a Suzuki dealer to see which colors they had to choose from...they just aren't around here, so finding this site has been great...I've already seen Busa owners in my region of the country on this board, so I'm hoping to one day meet up with new friends...I'd love to meet the Laguna crew one day; looks like you guys have a great time!  I'm sure I could learn tons from you guys...

As for speed, I'm not afraid of speed, but I truly respect bikes.  I lost someone close to me on a bullet bike, and seeing his bike behind my shed is a vivid reminder of how not to ride a bike.  I actually had quite a hard time getting on my Harley after he died, and now he's on my mind constantly since looking at and deciding to buy the Busa, but you're so right - ride within your limits and respect it - THAT should be on a t-shirt!

I've never been on a Busa, and I'll be buying one without ever even hearing it run first, but that's how I bought the Harley...I take my time and go at my own pace.  And you're so right about guys worrying that they'll kill themselves on it - I hear that from my hubby all of the time...I have two young boys to think about, so doing stupid things on a bike isn't really something I'm looking to do.  Having an awesome bike like the Busa will be a rush, for sure...and seeing guys on the 750's will certainly make me smile under my helmet as I race by!

You've got an AWESOME Busa, by the way...Thinker posted a Laguna pic yesterday and pointed out your bike and Swan's...they're both beautiful (actually got me thinking I might need some custom paint on mine one day!)  I already have a small list of mods in mind for my new Busa; I've learned so much from these biker boards.

Ride safe LoBusa, as I'm sure you do...enjoy sunny Cali (and think about the nearly 2 weeks of rain we've had in VA recently...not good riding weather!)

Michelle

Love the name of your bike, by the way...never even thought about naming mine...got me thinking now!  Something strong, like Caesar perhaps!?

Damn!  How's this reply for long!

Oh hell...here's a pic of me so you'll know who I am when I come screaming out to Cali on the Busa (yeah, right...)

That's my soon to be ex-883...and my other toy (the GT Mustang is my first toy)
