how long shoud front tire last

what is the normal amount of miles the front tire can take
I'm at 5,500    has 3mm showing on a tire gage.

the rear just got a nail in it but it had right at 2mm on it.

Start looking for a complete set. Don't take chances. How are the wear bars showing.

the rear was well on its way ( the wear bars was just about gone)
hard to tell on the front just where the wear bars are? but the line down the center is looking ok. 3 mm on a tire gage.

what tires would you say would be good?

i average about 3000 on the rear.. and 4500 on the front... on dunlop 208zr's

less than that on the oem's

I believe it's all based on riding style and where you live. Me, being here in central Florida don't get to ride twisties that often and I'm not an aggressive throttle man. I do alot of straight line I-95 commuting, with the occasional speed run up to 185 indicated when I'm froggy. I do have sort of a flat center tread area, but still less than 1/8" chicken strip. I try to use all the tire when I can.

I just turned 6000 on my original OEM's, and I believe I just hit the wear indicator on the rear. The front still looks really good. New rear just arrived today, it will be installed soon. After that one is done, then I'll replace as a set.

I'm going w/ the HPX... Got 8k on the srock tires...

Gonna get'm in about 2 weeks or when I start showing cord, whichever comes first.

I just change both tires at the same time. I seems easier. We get better deals around here if you buy both at the same time

I had about 13000 miles on mine before I let the pressure get low and it cupped it.

I go through 2 rear tires for every 1 front tire.

found out a "new" bt56 has 4.23 mm on it...
well after 5,500 miles I showed 3mm... so I should be good for another 5,000 miles???
looks like I will only be replacing the rear right now...

My original BT56 lasted for 20500 km, (12000ish miles I believe). Don't leave it that long though, she was getting pretty bald.

10000 miles shouldn't be a problem though.

see, the thing is that rubber gets hard with age and heat.. i'd recommend changing both.
