Try filling your tank as soon as the fuel light comes on. With the tank holding 5.5 gal. you can tell exactly how much fuel is left when the light comes on.

You can also adjust the fuel float within the tank to be nuts on or you can adjust it to suit your fancy. I've had to adjust every busa I've owned until I got the new 08 and it's nuts on. I gauge the accuracy of the fuel indicator by the amount of fuel left in the tank when the needle his the half way mark. I tried that and it held 2.7 gallons. Pretty damn close to being half full?
more info please. just exactly how do you adjust the float

ya thats the very reason i asked the question, i've never had a motorcycle fuel guage that was accurate
Absolutely correct, however.... the fuel gauge on the K8 takes this typical inaccuracy to a new order of magnitude. It truly is a waste of instrument panel space. Upon fillup, the needle doesn't budge and remains in place for 70-ish miles, then falls like a rock for the next 70 miles.
It's an embarrassing joke, and I wish to offer the Japanese engineer who designed it his very own Seppuku knife.

Likely enough, the configuration/orientation of the fuel level sending unit is the real culprit in the system. So, yes, it's back to the old standard of watching the odo and noting when the fuel light illuminates.  Pity.

dang i was hoping it might work on the k8

,my 1993 zx-11 works in the same fashion (stays full forever then drops like a rock) then. you'd think after all these years of building these highly refined machines they could figure out a simple fuel guage. also warchild do you or have you owned a blackbird i saw you name and avatar over on there site.
