How do I check out a VIN #???

Hi everybody, I've been lurking out here for a while now and am ready to do the deed. I've got my eye on a nice used busa but would like to check out the VIN #'s before I finalize the deal to make sure it's not stolen or whatever. Anybody know the best way to do that?

...dunno how to check the authenicity of the VIN # ... cause i dont live in the US; but I'm sure some one should be able to help you out soon
