hot head

I am looking at buying a Shoei RF1000 helmet or a Arai RX7. I have always used HJC's, but I am looking for better venting. The HJC is a good value, but my head roasts, even in cooler weather. I would appreciate an input and opinions. Thanks

I've always used Shoei and although I have a RF800 instead of the 1000, they are similar... none of my Shoei helmets were cool or well vented in my opinion. I just picked up an unlikely candidate.. Scorpion .. exo400. much colder and more vented than my 800.. good at fog prevention and much more venting.. that's also the bad news, louder and almost too well vented for cold weather.... but bargain basement priced..(150) and color matched to my 06LE.. it has become my "nice day" helmet, and my RF800 gets the nod when it's cold (less than 50)

look at the new Gmax68 helmets? think 7-9 vent openings on it. Haven't read a bad review on it and for the price..... Can't beat it! do a search on it.

I live in Florida where my house Ac is on 10month out of the year. I own this helmet and loving it so far.

I have a RF1000 and a X-Eleven. The RF1000 flows a decent amount of air through it, but not near what the X-Eleven does. The X-eleven is much noisier because of the increased air flow however.

I too have an HLC. Although heat is not an issue cause my hair is so short, I do have an issue w/fog from lack of ventilation. My last lid was a shoei and didnt have near this much trouble.

Both Arai and Shoei are both great helmets, but they fit your head differently. Try them both on and see which you like the best for fit.

I have a Shoei Rf1000, and the venting seems decenst. Gmax68 FTW, however. Webbikeworld helmet of the year, for about $100.

Helmet reviews and comparo.

I recently changed to an RF1000 and I have to say that it is the only helmet I've ever owned that the vents actually worked. I've had HJC and AGV in the past and their vents were rubbish.

Thanks for all your input and advise. If I'm going to spend $400+ dollars on a higher line helmet, I want to be as well informed as possible. Thanks again.

Dude, you want a helmet that passes air.......Scorpion !!!! It's the best SUMMER helmet there is, in my opinion. In the winter it's a different story, LOL. The other helmets you mentioned, I don't think you could go wrong with either, which one fits better ?

But the Scorpion is a good helmet for the money !! I haven't tried thier new one yet, I forget what model it is, EXO ??
