Found out my son Hunter was taken in by a family along with three other US Marines today . The program is for those who have no family or available family .
They volunteer to pick them up , feed them , and return them to base . Really great program , and thank you . Makes me feel pretty good knowing he was not stuck on base doing nothing , and wishing he could be with family .

What a great system, this would never happen in our country...our military is a shadow to only been seen in times of strife and then put away again.

What a great feeling to know your lad (and others) were looked after-well done.

c10, this is big around all the major holidays - there is more participation in some areas than others, but there are always people looking to take care of young servicemen and women. Also, tell him to check out the Single Marine Program at his location, they actually do some pretty cool stuff.

Glad he wasn't left by himself.

He was 17 @ high school graduation.
Turned 18 on June 22nd this year,.
