high pitched sound

as i've posted before, i sold my 2000 busa and bought a 2003 busa about a week ago. i've noticed that when i turn the key on, the bike makes sort of a high pitched whine for about 3 seconds and then goes off. When I actually start the bike up, I can hear the whine again and it bothers the hell out of me when i ride.

i'm hoping this is a normal sound for this year of bike since i didn't hear it with my 2000

The high pitch sound when you turn the key on is the fuel pump I think. I can't remember hearing it once the bike is running though.

Got it too on an 05. It almost cycles with the gauges, but once fired I don't hear it.

It's the gas turbine spooling up before the afterburner lights...

lol, haven't pushed this one that hard yet!! maybe i still hear it because i never heard it on the '00.

come to think of it, i gave my sister in law a ride today and i didn't hear it while riding. maybe i was too worried about losing her off the back!! (she's never been on a bike before, but she did great)
