Help-Steering Damper

My steering feels like the damper is not working any longer. It is 'twitchy' and does not feel like there is any dampening occurring. I could not find any help in the service manual.

Before I pull off the damper and look at it, I need the experience of the org.

What damage or failure points can I look for? Can it be serviced? Can I put oil in it to recharge it? How do I tell if it is low? How can I tell if it is completely shot?

It is the original stock damper...I've never removed it...I've only tried to keep the shafts clean.

Thanks in advance,

First do you own a rear stand , and have a floor jack ? If so place on rear stand , then place a 2x4 on the jack pad . Your jack point is the header just past the body work . Slowly jack the front up till the front tire is clear of the ground . Next turn bars from left to right . You should feel resistance . If it is bad / blown seal
it can be serviced . I use to have the seal part #'s but ill have to get them from another web site that uses the GSXR dampers heavily on another model bike that never came with a damper .
FYI good used ones on E bay for $20 usually
