Help! Installing no cut frame sliders through mesh grill

I have a 07 Busa with mesh grills and I am installing no cut frame sliders. When I cut the grills to inserts the pegs, what do I use to taper off the grills around the edges to give a clean look?

I used a black rubber gasket I found in the plumbing section of my local hardware store. Let me know if you want me to try and take a better pic.
