HELP! Has anyone installed a chrome gauge cluster on a Gen 1 before?

Bought this thinking it would be straight forward. Not sure how to go about mounting it though

Cluster has no lenses, so I'd have to use my originals. Does anyone know if they are removable?
Back of the cluster has no mounting points for screws or other point (blinker/flashers, neutral light, button, etc...

Not even close! That's what I guessed when I bought it. It's exactly the same dimensions on the outside. Won't fit on top.

Ok. After looking at the pics again I am stumped. My next suggestion would be to contact the seller or the manufacture to see what they would suggest. Sorry I could not help more.

Thanks nosbig. I am stumped too, and hoping someone may have been through this already...

I contacted the seller a month ago, and was told
"you just take off the original cover and put this in its place using the original glass"
... which is why I thought I'd ask here!

Pan , looks like China junk , I have a black billet aluminum one but it went right over the stock cluster

No, it's the good stuff from the USA.
I just got help off ISHOC member. Will post pics later...

Turns out the seller was right...!

I had not noticed, but there are two little screws facing the front of the gauge assembly. You remove them and slowly lever off the cover, using a flat head screw driver, carefully and patiently. The chrome cover goes straight on. Easy, when you know how. Took about 5 minutes.

Use flat head screwdriver here...

Slowly and patiently lever the cover off

...leaving the lenses intact

Then the chrome cover fits on easily

Thanks for the info. I never knew that they would separate like that.

Looks like the only thing left might be to buy new foam to go around it, like the original cover had on it.

Would like to see it when it's on the bike - if you get a chance.
