Ok, ok. BMW to be different. Be THAT person who has the BMW drag racer. .....
Or get some serious turbo on the Bus. :D

teasley just ran 8:97 at 158 on a stock length super sport bmw thats insane fast DAMN!!!! Snitz and dennis were both 9:0s same bike

why do u need to be ahead of the game...and why cant you do it with the busa???? No offense but are you a Pro and it matters that much..in the end do what your happy with...but just remember you can do the same thing with the busa...and for the price.spend the money on the busa that you would spend on the BMW and you will "Be ahead of the game" by thrice.....most ahead of the gamers are on busas anyways.....its not that its just a busa site, BUT...do the math...plus it just sounds "like the newest cooles t, look everyone what I got" bug is getting to ya. In the end do what you want, ride what you want...if it makes you happy...But your busa will kick the rocks of any BMW out there when correctly setup, and you are already there....and it looks and rides 20 times better and smoother......but whatever...Your bike specifically looks great....

$0.02.......

I think the bmw will be on top for a while, to me its biggest advantages are more inline for road racing. I would love to have one for the ABS and Traction Control, plus i took a demo ride on one and you can adjust the front and rear suspension easily a couple of clicks either way with the ignition key. all awesome stuff for a road racer.

For the drag strip i would def keep the busa. instead of puting down 14 or 15k on the s1000rr, you could invest a few k in a turbo for the busa and I havent seen to much that can touch a turbo busa.

Me personally would keep the Busa for the comfort and speed, but if you want to be faster than the other guy the go for the BMW. But only if you are pushing the Busa to it's full potential.

to answer your question simply put "YES"

How much do you weight...?

Since it's only money to you, I would just keep the BUSA and get the BMW...

I'd love to do the same just don't have time for the BUSA as it is let alone another bike... :(

I'm 200lbs on my way to 175 lbs And it's not that it's only money I'm about to start building a grudge bike but I am very interested in the BMW and what it maybe able to do in the very near future

I don't know about you but I love the stock S1000, I still wouldn't let my busa go for it. I would need an extra $17,000 from no where so I could have both my busa and an S1000r.
Plus I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with customizing a $17,000 bike, Its not like the customizing is going to increase the value.

You seem to have it setup for drag racing. Not sure what the balance between street riding an drag racing you doing hard to have an opinion. I agree stock to stock the bmw may have a hp advantage. My question is, is stock all you plan on???

The BMW may well be smoking these boys at the track soon but the support from builders an aftermarket parts companies may take some time to catch up on, i have seen tuners an builders toying with the BMW which is a good sign. Then think about price of performance parts if you modding an will there may be a following or support for them.

If stock is all you want get a bmw, but I wouldn't trade a 1300 anything for a 1 K of any kind for drag racing if drag racing mods were in my plans in the future

great video i have to say but i have a feeling that next year there are gonna be some bmw in the 7's also if not the 6's

Your money, your bike, your call.
Just keep in mind what you REALLY want in the bike that you end up with and then ask..."is that it?"
As shown by your present machine, clearly the end product that you have now, is "not enough", therefore making you look elsewhere (S1000RR) for new excitement, though with much the same approach.
I would buy the S1000RR if I want to race it on club days as well as use it as a daily ride if needed. If you stretch it, then you would perhaps have neutralized what it was initially designed to do and end up with something similar to what you currently already own.
However, if nothing else will do, DO IT!

I wish i could have both bikes. The BM is awesome on the track. But for overall ability and touring qualities i'll stick with my busa. Wish i could afford both though.

Here is my 2 cents. Having ridden a Gen2 Busa and BMW S1000RR.. Based on performance I would get the BMW. Hands down the power to weight ratio of the BMW makes for a hell of a ride. Plus the sound of the BMW screaming at 14,000 RPM then u add the power numbers they are reporting with a tune and full exhaust. My riding style speed, long distance, rain or shine. With the BMW having traction control, ABS, wheelie control will make for a better trip when the weather gets bad...

But and what i'm about to say is second hand from my friend who owns the BMW the parts are expensive, now I haven't double checked on this so you should check this out. Most bike mishaps are tip overs and damage case covers, bar ends, engine case covers, levers.. I was told the replacement levers were close to or over $100.. Now the aftermarket is catching up fast for the BMW. Yosimura has parts BMW S1000RR NEW PRODUCTS
$177 for a windscreen from BMW
$500 for Solo seat cover from BMW( I think it was carbonfiber)
Don't quote me on this but a carbon-fiber solo seat cover for the Busa is $375
The BMW ECU is restricted to no more than 8000 RPM for break in which is 600 miles. A trip back to BMW to remove the break in restriction cost $200 (double check this amount)

Now if you have time to wait, see what Kawasaki is going to do.. But if you want performance now BMW 100+ pounds lighter with equal power can't be beat..

just found this

BMW S 1000RR to the 8th & 3rd power!
Published on June 29, 2010 by Dragbike Live.com · 1 Comment

Jeremy TeaslJeremy Teasleyey did exactly what he was expected to do when piloting the BMW S 1000RR of Brock’s Performance as a “guest†rider. Teasley as the 3rd selected rider (hence the BMW to the 3rd power pun) showed both the power of mind over control while competing at the Hatin’ Drag Racing Summer Sizzler event on Sunday June 27th 2010 and recorded the platforms best elapsed time to date on a stock wheelbase version, in other word’s it’s not extended! The BMW prepared by Brock’s Performance posted a 8.95 elapsed time in the 1/4 mile (hence to the 8th power pun) on the stock wheel base version of the BMW S 1000 RR. Brock Davidson, owner of Brock’s Performance and crew chief for the bike had this to say about Teasley’s performance on the bike for the first outing.

“Jeremy Teasley ran 8.95 STOCK WHEELBASE on our SuperSport legal BMW S 1000 RR and backed it up with a couple of 8.97′s at close to 158 MPH. The kid is one of the most talented jockeys I have seen in years; small AND can ride his ass off— a deadly combinationâ€

Teasley has been on fire in 2010 and continues to impress everyone alike with his highly sought after ability to pull the very best of any machine he throws a leg

over, it leaves many fans of the BMW asking questions though? Although Teasley has demonstrated exactly what the BMW can do under his control, such as previous riders Ryan Schnitz and most recently Keith Dennis have also demonstrated. The question on everyone’s mind is what can the “average or regular†rider do with the bike?

In true fashion Davidson had a reply to that as well. “Unfortunately we will need to wait for a different day to know what a regular guy can do. I hadn’t been down a drag strip in 2 years (at over 215 lbs suited, I have been too fat to fit into my leathers… sad but true) BUT, I’ve been trying to fix that lately and they FIT again

yesterday so I jumped on Christine and ran 9.22@150MPH on my time run with a miserable 1.57 60ft. I went straight into eliminations in the 9.50 class and had to cut gas on the rest of my runs. FYI: I’ll be going into the eights on this bike before long and LOVED the new Beemer! The engine screams like a 600 but pulls like a Busa, I’ve never experienced anything like it – it’s a ballâ€

This leaves many question’s yet to be answered and some already answered. Is Brock to be considered an “average or regular†rider?

Come on Brock! You were the first ever to pilot a street legal bike into the 7 second zone in the 1/4 mile!

No small feat in itself even by today’s standard. We bet you would have a 1/4 mile long line of “average†joe’s ready to jump at the chance to show what they can post on the clocks aboard the BMW. What da ya say? photo’s courtesy Brock Davidson & John Little
