Groundhog said early Spring

Is it a crime to shoot the Groundhog if he's wrong about the early Spring bit? My riding timeline depends GREATLY on his prediction..

I mean c'mon, how do they know year after year it's the same groundhog? My grandfather used to kill them every year in the garden.

Hopefully its true. This is only the 18th time the ground hog has stayed above ground when being plucked since the tradition started. I am hoping for an early spring also.

speaking of ground hogs getting shot. has anyone every checked out dog-be-gone.com and checked out the the sample videos. great stuff. I know they're not ground hogs. mostly prairie dogs. ladies don't go to the sight unless you like to see carnage.
