Got me a new toy!! :-D

Going to refinish the stock over the winter and do a few other odds and ends like a bipod.

For those that DON'T know. Its a CETME Sporter. Its chambered in 7.62 x 59mm. If you aren't a "gun person" then its the same round used in the M-60. The big chain fed gun that you always see in the Vietnam and Rambo movies.

Has a 3 x 9 tactical scope on it. Lot more accurate than I thought it would be.

D'oH.... sorry. Have no idea why I typed 59mm. It is indeed 51mm.

As for the design. It is the predecessor to the HK91/93. HK paid CETME to design the 91/93.

Penetration with the surplus NATO ball rounds I'm using is pretty impressive. I'm currently looking for "specialty" ammo right now.

Furthest I can shoot thus far is 100 yards. Don't have anywhere yet to shoot that is further. I'm a bit rusty and need to get back up to par but on average I'm getting 2" groups at 100 yards. With some work I fully believe I'll get it down to 1.5" groups. We'll see. Its operator error I'm sure. Not the gun's fault.

LOT better than the SKS (used to own one) and not really anything like it. Only thing similar is the fact that it looks like a gun and has wood furniture.

I could go high tech and replace the furniture with parts from its child (the HK models) but then it loses its charm and its originality.

Yeah I go shooting almost every Monday at the local range, Monday is ladies night and my girl can shoot for free.
