Lake City 5.56 Ammo is the best 5.56 Military ammo manufactured. This the original US Military Lake City Arsenal M855 SS109 Penetrator ammo. 62 grain with steel tipped penatrating core for combat use, firing at 3,025 f.p.s. very scarce and limited supplies, 1000 Round Bulk Pack. This is identical to the ammo being used right now in Iraq by US troops.

.308/7.62x51 is still high but this 5.56 is reasonably priced for 62gr penetrator rnds. A few months ago this stuff was around $600.00

Thanks for the post and info.

Also, remember 5.56 ammo and .223 ammo are not completely interchangable. 5.56 ammo runs at a higher pressure than .223 so not all guns can handle it. Most will but not all, so be sure your gun, if chambered for .223, can handle the increase in pressure. Lots of places on the net to research this, to include handloading manuals, but a quickie is listed below.

Y'all are welcome. Seems like the factories are catching up and prices are falling.
7.62x51 is still high but it will soon follow and come down.
I bought a few cases of Lake city boxed 7.62 a few yrs back for $350 per 1k now its still almost double that but in due time and especially with the ruling the other day I think factories will begin to crank out some more.
Some really good ammo I am uniquely familiar with is Prvi Partizan. Excellent ammo.
