OK So there are 6 families, and 23 genus.
SO NOW, we have to find the species OK. Well in each Genus we have say... 7 seperate variations or species. You know everything from the 50cc dirt bikes to the 450CC MX bikes in a particular genus.
SO Lesse, that's 161 (minimum) individual machines in one year. OK That's not too bad right? Right? HA!
Now then take 161 individual machines, and pull them through time, revisions, and evolutions.
So that's 161x oh lets say 15 years....
So now we have 2,415 individual machines cool?
OK now take each one of those machines, and say they have about 250 parts on average. Some more some less, some ALOT more.
So that means there are roughly 603,750 potential parts just for those machines we sell...
Hell cannot imagine WHY a dealership would Dare NOT to have every single part for each of our bikes in stock and ready to go.
Dealers order parts and replacements based on how often they are ordered, and common wear items. Certain things, Dirt bike fork seals, etc. are frequently replaced and thus stocked. Otherwise, it's not to uncommon to have to wait for a part, sucks but there is no way around it.
One thing that can helpis careful maintenance and frequent inspection. this alone can catch suspect parts and damage before something fails, giving you a chance to order with plenty of time to spare...
As for Cotter pins and such? You know you're going to need them, why not find out the size and pick some up from Lowe's? Not too hard to plan ahead.
